Opinions on a good straight up hunting optic for $500-$700 dollars

Sightron sii big sky or siii. Big sky's are close to my kahles helix c's. Siii has less bells and whistles but is optically a clone of my nf nxs. Incredible amounts of elevation and windage. Track perfectly and lifetime warranty.

the best scope in your price range is a 3-15 SWFA. if you like F1 and mils they are a 1k value scope at nearly half the price when on sale.

For a lighter scope, look for those with a 1" tube and a with a 44mm or less objective lens. For your stated distance, a variable to 9x or 10x should work fine. Review the 100 ideas above, go to opticsplanet, Brownells or even Google shopping and enter your maximum price. See what brands and prices come up. I formerly worked in optics at C's, and I recommend it's best to see for yourself some scopes at low light outside. PS Used scopes carry little risk as most scopes have a transferable lifetime warranty.

My buddy's first semi custom build wears a VX-3i 4.4-14x50 CDS wind plex. It's punching above its weight for overall value and glass clarity in a hunting scope. My most recent project sports a VX-3i 3.3-10x50 standard click capped turrets and duplex reticle. I've run that scope on this 7mm-08 to 800 yds with 162 eldm and it tracks really well. I use a dot of white nail polish on the scope tube for a "zero," witness mark. Works just fine. Leupold is hard to beat for that price point on glass. I used to run a vortex pst gen 1 on a long range custom, glass was really poor in low light in hunting conditions, it was excellent mechanically speaking.

Hey guys, what all your opinions on a good hunting scope to go on a tikka t3x lite in 6.5 creed? Trying to keep the overall package around 8lbs scoped. This will be my 0-500 yard whitetail rifle and will also be for my boy when he goes hunting next year so I dont need anything fancy. Looking for something in that 3-15ish power range with an easy to use reticle. Illumination is nice but not a must. A low profile exposed turrent is a bonus. I've seen a few but just cant make up my mind. Trying to keep in around d 500-700 bucks
Go to blackhoundoptics.com and there is a great 4-14x44 (30 mil tube) at an unbelievable price. It comes with rings, flip up caps and sun shade. Use code 6235097 for a 5% discount and free shipping included.

One more for VX5HD 3x15. GB has them new at times for a bit over 700.00. I perfer the boone & Crockett retical.

Just in case some of you guys that suggest Nikon haven't heard yet but they are getting out of the scope business. That's why everyone has them dirt cheap now. I have one and had to send it in for warranty back in Jan and had the whole conversation with them. the one I own I like don't get me wrong and they stood behind it and made right on the issue I had but they said when parts and supplies are gone they are done. They said they would possibly contract with another company for future service work but take that with a grain of salt. I just wouldn't spend my $$ on something knowing that.

I bought a vx3i 4.5?-14x40 with cds for my 10y old. Was 350 bucks on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse. Put it on his Tikka Compact 7-08. He is happy as a clam. Stole back my Kahles CL 3-9x42. Win win.

Take a look at the new Athlon scopes. They make a 2.5-15x50 FFP 30mm tube. It has 100 MOAs of adjustment in both elevation and wind. It has a very nice Christmas tree cross hair. Go to SWFA website they have it in your $700 - $800 price range.

+1 for Leupold 4-14 VX3 cds wind plex. Growing up any VX3 variant was considered great (not premium) glass for big game hunting in central Texas.

also, really like sightron if leaning towards a"tactical" variant.
