Only two custom, packable, long range hunting rifle systems would be?

First is my New to Me 6.5x300 weatherby in MarkV KCR. NF ATACR 7X35X56.

Second I would love to say my 30-06 AI but while great and probably could do a lot of good stuff. I'll pick the Weatherby 33x378 with a NF ATACR 5x25x56.
Pretty much could go through the world and never need anything else
Holy mackerel!! Nice rigs you got there I'd love to see pictures . They both sound like shoulder fired intercontinental ballistic missile launchers !!!!

I never understood this? No offense but factory ammo and long range hunting are two things that I believe shouldnt be said together. Being that this is a LR hunting site I just never understood the factory ammo availability claim. I understand there's different strokes for different folks but I'm a believer that we need to change the idea that we can just go grab a box off the shelf and go hunting LR. If I'm selecting only two CUSTOM packable 800+ yard rifles for hunting than the availability of factory ammo doesn't deserve any consideration in my camp.

7RM or 7SAUM throated for 180s at 3000+fps
8-8.5 pounds trail weight

300WM or 30Noz throated for 215s at 3000+ fps.
9.5 pounds trail weight.

I'd be happy go kill just about anything in the world with this combo.

You can believe what you want but there are factory ammo and rifle combos that are capable of 1/2MOA accuracy at long range and that's perfectly suitable for long range hunting.

**** happens and you should have at least one rifle that you can get a box of ammo for at a local store.

Hey redneckbmxer24 I totally agree with you I've got a sig cross in 6.5 creed that love FACTORY hornandy 143 eldx and I have taken it to 750 on a 10 inch plate and it's always spot on . I usually hunt out to 500 only but wouldn't have a problem with his combo further if conditions were right

Some people just like to pound their chests about hand loading. I know some things about producing ridiculously consistent handloads too and I'm not going to say that factory ammo is as consistent as what you CAN get out of handloads with good techniques, but if your rifle shoots it well and it's quality ammo it's absolutely more than adequate enough for mid to long range hunting. I've shot plenty of factory ammo through rifles that has ES's in the 20-25 range and SD's around 10 which is every bit as consistent as what most people produce on their bench

What is your 2 custom packable rifle choices?

If you could have any two long range (800 yard effective rge) rifles systems and calibers, only two for:
1. One for anything from long distance practice, speed goats, blacktails, etc.
2. Second for long distance elk and defend yourself in grizzly country.
Your two choices would be (rifle, caliber, bullet, and scope)? Weight is always a concern.
1. 6.5 SAUM. Terminus Apollo, Manners LRH, NF NX8, Benchmark Carbon 26", Berger153.5 LRHT's @ 3,024. All in a little over 10lbs.
2. 300 NM, Terminus Zeus, Manners T4A Team, NF NX8, Proof Carbon 26", 230 Berger OTM's @ 2,900. All in 12.5lbs.

These are already in the stable and don't necessarily fit a lot of guys idea of "lightweight". However for me, I cannot shoot light rifles in calibers suitable for the critters/ranges the OP specified accurately and consistently.

I agree that we have more control over hand loads. But theoretically, there is an ES and SD threshold that makes a load ethical for LR hunting purposes. To me, it doesn't make a difference if we achieve that threshold with a hand load or factory ammo.

Don't want to hijack the OP, I'm just always curious to see what someone's requirements are for LR hunting ammo
15 ES max for me, however I strive and usually maintain single digits.
