One short action cartridge to “do it all” ⁉️

I voted for 308 simply because this is the only SA I own. I've always wanted the 300WSM, but I probably would not put it a SA if I go with that cartridge. I still love my boring old 308 though.

Never owned a 308. I probably should cure that problem. Voted wsm as I do own several and they have all been great. Recently picked up a Sherman and do really like it but if you don't reload probably going to be a little harder to find ammo.

That's an excellent list. If you asked me last week my 260 AI would be my current SA do all cartridge. But some new info came to light so I might side with the .223 being a possible contender to the do all cartridge.

300WSM with 22" 9 twist barrel running suppressed. Put it in a medium or long action to shoot the long monos with appropriate throat. Rifle s/b under 9 pounds ready to hunt. Sorry for getting off topic……. If a SA would work in this scenario, I would consider it.

I have both the 7 and 300 wsm. Would be hard to choose between the 2. Probably if I was just forced to it would be the 300. The larger bullets are hard to beat for larger game animals.

I've had or still have all the ones listed and the 300 wsm is king for a do all gun from mouse to moose

If I could only have one rifle (which pains me to even think about), it would be a 7SS. From pronghorn to elk, it would work great.

Thank goodness this nightmare will never come to be.

If a guy ever gets a bit too old to pack around ole 338 Winchester Magnum for Elk, it's doppleganger, the 338 Federal be enough for couple more hunts.
