Obama on hunting and fishing

iirc "cop killer" bullets were the Black Talons. I know of a few people that still have these, bought pre-ban of course. They were suppose to be able to penetrate kevlar bullet proof vest.

Just found this:
Wikipedia: The ammunition was targeted by those opposed to handguns,[5] and the reputation was very different in the public,[6] and eventually the Talons became to be known by the moniker "cop-killer" bullets.[7] The hype of the Black Talon ammunition was the black coating on the bullets themselves. There were false rumors that the bullets were armor piercing and could penetrate the Kevlar vests worn by police officers.

The original cop-killer bullets were steel core bullets, coated with Teflon. The teflon protects the barrel (supposedly), and the steel core bullets will blow through most body armor. Of course, the idiots in the media thought the teflon imparted some magical qualities to the bullet to allow it to "slip" through bullet proof vests.

The black talon ammo is different. It was designed as an extreme expansion ammo. The original black talon had a thick jacket with a massive hollow point. The jacket had cuts in the side that opened like "flower petals" and stuck out, creating a massive wound channel. You can still buy these today, but they are called Winchester Ranger SXT-T, but can be hard to find as they are supposed to be sold to military and LEO only (marketing, not law). Winchester sells a version called the SXT for "civilians". Personally, I think its partly marketing to have the two types.
