This past week I just bought and loaded some 7mm-08 starline brass. I have used it in pistol calibers. But this was the first time in rifle brass. It was all good and shot well also. No complaints here.
Based on my experience with several calibers (not specifically 7-08), Alpha is just as good as Lapua in terms of longevity with aggressive loads (I do anneal every time, with both brands). Probably a bit better in terms of out of the box measurement consistency. Alpha seems to have marginally less case capacity as compared to Lapua. However, I will admit that my sample size is not huge. Alpha is MADE IN THE USA!For you guys running the alpha brass how's it compared to lapua? I've got a few hundred lapua but when it's done I'd like good options. I do step on the brass hard with the current load . I couldn't run hornady brass nearly as hard and sent it all to my dad .
If it's 7mm08 lapua with large rifle primer, I'd likely take it.How much do brass do you need? I have about 50 new brass but not sure if Norma or Lapua.
I have tried LaPua brass and found it not to be any better than others, with the exception that you may get one or two more loads out of it before it's trashed. The key to accuracy is consistency. Starline 7mm-08 brass will work well for you, as well as Winchester and a few others. Starline at Midway USA is $34.09 for 50 and will do the job for you.I reload 7mm08 for my wife's rig and we have a nice load developed using lapua brass. It seems lapua is no longer making 7mm08 brass. What is the next best brass option? Can I use 308 lapua brass, neck it down and expect same results? Any other thoughts Thanks!
