No love for CEB?

I've been looking into Cutting Edge Bullets but it appears they aren't that widely used. Looks like they offer some pretty good BC's for a mono bullet at a "fair" price especially since Badlands is out of business. So can someone give me some feedback as to why they seem to be overlooked?

Thanks

I did a quick search and there are 10 pages long ...

If you want to use them, go for it, and don't worry about what others use or think about CEBs.

CEB Lazers are huge in ELR.
Allegedly they have the lowest BC SD and go through trans the best, which I'm sure you aren't really worried about.
I shoot them in my 375, they shoot awesome.

I agree with @FEENIX just try them, they will work I'm sure. It's more about shot placement than anything. Almost every animal I've killed has been with a bullet that people say won't work well.

So I previously shot them in everything. Still use them for a few things.
Reason I changed was simple.

On game performance was better with hammer bullets. Bc lower but consistent on game over hundreds of animals hammers won. When running the numbers out to min fps needed to open the bullets the distance was not as significant as one would think. Couple that with the fact most game animals are taken at ranges that bc does not matter and the hammers became more obvious choice. Still run them in my big .375 because the bc and that is a long range bomber. And it's .375 dia.

That being said both are so far and above Barnes and other monos you would be happy with both. If hammer went away tomorrow I would go to my second favorite which is Ceb. I think it depends on cartridge and distance wanted to achieve also.

But before choosing take both bullets run them in an app at speeds people are getting for said round and see where both hit the min fps required to open.

I use them in my 375-416 Rigby Improved 40° for 2K ELR, but I have not hunted with them.
The opportunity just has never come about here.
I use the 400g single feed laser tipped bullet, exceptional accuracy and consistent flight at 2K, started at 2850fps.
I also used the 350g laser tipped for 1K shooting, but that's only 3 times a year shoot, wasn't worth the travel time tbh.
Great bullets, unsure of their game performance.

Cheers.
Edit to add: Very expensive here, more than double what's listed in the US.

The 400gr is very good. I launch that out of my 375AM and I've only shot 3 things with it between 420-986 yards but nothing took a step when hit.

Great post. Did you happen to have opportunity to test both down to or close to min impact speeds??

Any specifics or comments to share on that?

No specific testing like I have on others. But that situation is how I noticed the difference in on game. As the distance moved out and into lower speeds but still above stated min. I noticed the hammers creating more internal trauma, and more consistent wounds.

I've thought the same. Never a huge following or reporting on them but occasionally I'll see some posts about the ceb. I decided to try them in a couple rifles. The first being a 33 nosler and never could get the 225 or 250 lazer to shoot no matter what I did. Gave up on that expensive venture. However, the 252 mth did shoot well in that rifle.
The next bullet I tried was the 150 lazer in a 27 Sherman mag. That was the easiest load development I've had in a while. Only had 2 on-game experience with that specific bullet. The first being amazing! It was a doe mule deer at 540 yards. One shot and she was hooves to heaven without a twitch. This was not high shoulder or spine shot. It was right in the pocket behind the shoulder. To me, that was very impressive and the internal trauma was as impressive as well as the blood spray on the off side. This left me wanting to try it on more game and bigger. Took the same rifle on an elk hunt and was able to connect on a spike at 200ish yards. Close enough I didnt need to range it... I thought. Long story short... my sight-in height offset was more than I should have ran and hit very high on the back. Can't blame the bullet. Put 2 more in the pocket behind the shoulder and one looked like it did the job buy the other I found under the hide on the offside. There was no brush or obstacles between the elk and myself. This bullet appeared to have deflected somehow. Not sure if it was the thickness of the hide or a rib bone buy the tip bent over and it was banana shaped laying sideways under the offside hide.
I'll give this specific bullet another chance but will be more critical of it's performance. I did buy some 125 maximus for my 270 cal lineup of rifles. The maximus line is their most hunting oriented line and should prove to be more consistent and dish out more trauma with the loss of bc.
