So I have this new 338 Lapua and I'll admit I am somewhat new to longrange shooting.
I bought a Savage FCP110 HS in 338 Lapua - I have the gun's little brother, the FCP10 HS in 308 that I regularly shoot out to 800 yards accurately, quite a gun.
So with this new gun I am looking at the NightForce NXS 5.5-22X56 Zero Stop with high speed tactical turrets. I am considering the velocity 1000 reticle because my range is only 1000 yards and I doubt I will get the opportunity to shoot past 1000 yards with this gun. The 1000 reticle has several choices based on the caliber and load. I have used the velocity reticle calculator on nigh force's web site and I think I am going to be shooting 250GR SMK's which comes up as the C374 reticle.
I wanted to see if anyone;
1. - Has any experience with this gun - i.e. does it shoot the 250's or 300's better
2. - Does anyone have any experience with the velocity 1000 reticles on the nightforce. Is that the best option for what I will be doing (shooting at 1000 yards or less at targets and Coyotes)
I am just hesitant about pulling the trigger on a $1900 scope without hearing any real world feedback.
thanks in advance
