When I was planning retirement 2004, Kimber came out with the Montana in 300 WSM. I loved my 700 Rem Stainless 338 WM with H&S stock. Little heavy for a mountain rifle. I bought a Kimber Montana 300 WSM.
My first loads was Win. Brass, Win. Primer (Original primer for reg. or mag) IMR. 4350 powder, Sierra,150 gr. 1 3/4" group at 100 yd. 165gr. 1 1/4", 180 gr. .560" group, Near 3000 fps. Used 180gr. Hornady interlock for deer, Nosler 180gr. partition, Caribou, Elk and Moose load. With the Montana magazine anything over 180gr., Seats to deep in the case.
With a 2.5X8 Leopold scope, nylon sling and 4 shells 7 1/4 lb. weight. Makes a great all weather high country rifle. Its the "Old Man".
