New Savage 110 Ultralite with Proof CF Barrels

I dont see much need for a blue printed action with savages floating bolt head and when it comes to chambering the barrel, i feel much better buying a prefit barrel from a company that specializes in barrels , not a gun manufacturer that mass produces guns . And if you dont like the accufit stock athsetics , why buy the stock just to change to something else ?
Its a nice rifle for the average joe that doesnt hold their rifles to a custom rifles accuracy standard , but even though im a big savage rifle fan , if i want a proof barreled savage , i will buy components and build my own.:)

If you can build one yourself for under $1,200 with the specs the Ultralight comes with I'll buy a dozen from you...

Who wants to take an ultralight rifle and stick it in a heavy *Rule 4 Violation* chassis?

Replacing the bottom metal makes no difference on the bolt release location either.

Just goes to show people will literally complain about anything.

And I'll admit, I am the furthest thing from a Savage fan! I literally make fun of them every chance I get...but they knocked it outta the park with this one and I may just end up eating crow and buying one.
Ok, I will explain further. The problem is with the COAL limitations of the internal magazine. I tried finding bottom metal that would work with it. Maybe Wyatts? This is why I don't have a High Country right now. As far as the chassis...28 oz XLR Element 3 chassis. The Accustock weighs 35.56 oz.

Just goes to show people will complain about anything. In the end 2" of barrel means maybe 50 FPS and really doesn't mean squat. In order to build ultra light rifles at lower cost point something is going to give. So savage makes a 1500.00 light rifle with proof barrel in a blue printed action and people are still complaining. Heck even the stock is adjustable to fit a wide range of body types.
I've owned a lot of savages and the accustock is not a deal breaker in my world. I think people who complain don't own one. All of my savages shot excellent and when changing to a chassis there wasn't any difference in accuracy.

in the end it's an excellent platform in a light hunter with popular chambering at a affordable price for what's offered.

The link I'm clicking on does not show the cartridge options. It only shows "308". Am I missing something.

I dont think poeple were complaning as much as they were just voicing their preferences.
But good point.
Yep, definitely not complaining. I want to buy one. It seems like manufacturers are always playing catch up though. I would like the 6.5 PRC with a mag and barrel that are useable with the 156 gr. bullets. I don't know what the max COAL is and I see that they put a 1:8 instead of a faster twist, so no 156gr.

No it doesn't,+-20 fps,3320fps with factory ww 150,I think they were 74 grains of 760 I load 68 grains,I got old.Cut close to an inch off my savage, set back and re-crowned. With that big front sight, looks like a harpoon

Used savage for parts would be the wildcard on price , but if i wanted an ultralite rifle, and i dont, i wouldnt let a couple hundo keep me from a quality chamber. Besided, uou yourself already conceded that you would change the stock out and that would push the price up to close to 2k.

3.6" is plenty for the cartridges it is offered in.

Yup...28oz without a buttstock or grip.

That's the nature of large corporations. I'm in the mining industry and the small start ups are kicking our butts with regard to reliability centered maintenance. IIoT and industry 4.0 is the future that is here. Meanwhile, I have managers asking to me print weekly equipment status reports to post in the break areas. Get a friggin clue bud, $500 flat screen on the wall that automatically updates from the CMMS, never print a report again and the guys know what the equipment is doing right now instead of a week ago. Set it up like a stock ticker scrolling across the bottom of ESPN and the guys might actually look at it...

Nope...28 oz total....16 without. Look again at the stats page. Element 3 Magnesium with the carbon grip and buttsock. With the heavier grip and buttstock it is 2.62 lbs. If you want it to fold you can add that for a few more ounces. (I have one already)

I like it a lot.
probably 7lbs scoped up.
1.5 lb trigger and that stock should have the full length aluminum bedding so not a flimsy typical Tupperware stock.
I'm thinking 280ai and like the 22" barrel.
Short, light and handy for southern creek bottom thickets and able to stretch it out long range as well.

Does anyone have this dimension? Putting a 180 Berger 20 off the lands on a saami 28 nosler chamber will have around 3.58-3.6 oal. Will that fit in these rifles?
Does anyone know the internal mag dimensions on the long action 110? I'm pondering the 280ai or 28 nosler down loaded to 7 mag perf.

The box on my High Country 7mm Mag was 3.5", which is the same as the internal mag on my floor plated 300 WM 111 Long Range Hunter.

Gotcha...you didn't say the Magnesium version.
