I am new at wanting to hand load for my rifles. 300 weatherby and 7prc etc which press do you reccomend should I buy a whole kit like they sell them and which book is best for loads thanks guys

DONT BUY A KIT! Over half of what you get you will trash in a year as not what you want.

Find a local handloader that will let you in on what he uses and offer his advice. If you are serious about hand loading you need:

1: A good single stage press
2: A good hand primer
3: Shell holders for press and primer in calibers you load
4: Electronic powder self metering scale
5: Good calipers
6: Ogive measuring tool
7: Quality FL bushing dies

Start with these and then add items if/when you want to get more precise.

Be safe.

I just got the Lyman turret press (8 slots), along with the Creedmoor Sports turret head and upgrade kit. Upgraded turret head is the way to go on any of the turret presses…..removes the slop and no need to change out your dies for 3-4 total calibers! Look into it!

@Cricket, this is one of the few kits that you have everything you need to get you started.

I'm not a fan of kits, as eventually lots of it gets relegated to the spare parts bin when you find tools you like more.

Budget would help to give better advice.
I am not either, but the Lyman 8 kit is one of the better ones. One of my press is a Lyman 7 I purchased a long time ago, and I did not use a few of the accessories that came with it.

Reloading means you want to get to Precision reloading, I would recommend a great single stage press, and I would suggest either a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme, RCBS Rebel or a Forster CO-AX. The RC Supreme won out on best runout and what I would suggest. As for priming, I would suggest Frankford Arsenal platinum hand primer. Good luck and have fun researching.

While I understand why people say don't buy a kit because you will eventually replace most everything! My thinking is with the lynman kit you get everything but dies and components that you need. Once you get started and get your process down you'll know what you want to upgrade. If your like me it's a never ending cycle on upgrading or wanting to try different things. Also mentioned above, the other route is to learn from a friend and see what you like.
