You will get a lot of opinions and they (for the most part) will be worth considering. I've shot a lot of 300 we over the years. My suggestion would be bergers 215 and h1000 with a mag primer. Start at a lower charge and work up. If you do a search on this form I believe you will get a lot of information on this combo. Also please understand that I am not trying to take any credit for my suggestion. There have been a lot of guys put a lot of work into coming up with good combinations. Good luck with your hunt. Be safe, shot straight and above all have fun.
I am very compitent and staying safe and know very well how to have fun, shooting straight.......thats the part I am concerned with and need to work on,LOL

I really like Retumbo in magnum cases, especially if you're shooting heavy for caliber bullets. H1000, RL-23 or 26 would be good options as well. I have shot a lot of RL-22 in magnums and gotten great results. There are several good options out there. My pick would be to grab some Retumbo or RL-26 for the 300 Win.
RL-26 has proven to be a real winner in all three of my 300wm's and 2 of my 300 Rum's with 180gr and heavier pills.

I got the rifle back out Friday and put another box of the 180 accubonds thru it and the first three shot group I shot was 9/16 inch and it was my best group, this is what I need to work on cause I start to fall apart quickly after a few rounds and am still not sure how to address this.I also shot an interesting group of four rounds and two went into a stacked ragged hole and two more went into another ragged hole one inch left and about a quarter inch low of the first two so I am not sure if the rifle wanted to put all four rounds in a ragged string about 5/8 long and I pulled two of the shots or if it is just a fluke the way they fell. I need to have my daughter help me post pictures so I can put them up here. After 40 rounds the barrel is cleanning right up with not much effort. At this point the rifle does just what C.A. claims it will with factory ammo and it will be accurate enough for what I have planned for it.I was concerned about the recoil bu
t with the brake and the limbsaver the rife is a pleasure to shoot and recoil is not an issue at all, like I said before my #1A in 270Win has more recoil than this one.

It sounds an awful lot like the recoil is bothering you and you're developing a flinch, probably starting to lighten your hold a bit and maybe even dropping your shoulder back in anticipation of same.

Think your way through the fundamentals and make dead sure you're really pulling it in tight before pulling the trigger. If you're shooting off of a bipod, lean into it a bit, this is called "loading the bipod".

The tighter the bond between the butt and your shoulder the less impact there is from the recoil. The lighter it is the more the rifle smacks you before then driving you back.

Another technique that works well for a lot of people is that instead of fighting the recoil by leaning in they just pull the rifle in tightly and roll with it, not fighting it at all.

Both work, the latter is harder to learn because the natural reaction is to brace for an impact but it basically allows your whole body to take the recoil rather than just the contact point so your body becomes a shock absorber.

When I was young 10 I developed a really bad flinch from shooting a 10g on a goose hunt and it took me years to get over it. Today, after a lot of work I flat never consider it at all.

I would have to agree on the flinch cause the target don't lie.
When I pull the stock in tight it seems to make me shake a bit so I tend to have a loose grip on it to help elliminate that but it must be causing it to slap me more and then I flinch and the good first group would back that up and then they loosen up from there.
I am going to put a list together for the basics and take it with me so I can go over it at the range before pulling the trigger and make it a habbit so I don't have to think about that part.
I think I need to work on not anticipating the shot also and just pressing the trigger and just let it happen.
Bad habbits are hard to break and even harder if you do not have someone slapping you on the side of the head when you go back to them.
I was out of town last week and will get back out to the range this week.
The good thing is it has been 110 degrees here and I get to the range at about 2pm so I pretty much have it to myself and do not have another rifle booming next to me when I am shooting.
Thanks for the help, I apreciate it and take it all to the range with me.

Dry fire some shots every now and then. Just remember to let the rifle do the shooting, all you do is aim. Squeeze the trigger steady until it is gone. Do not try and make the trigger go off when the cross hair is in the center. Let it float and go off on its own. There is a delay between your brain, trigger finger, and what you see.

I got a good bipod on the rifle and have been doing alot of dry firing and the bipod seems to have improved my shooting(loading the bipod is much more steady than a rest or sandbag) I am now shooting 3/4 inch groups at 100 and keeping my 200 yard groups under 2 inches regularly but I ran into a roadblock this wekend.
I had not got my tag in the mail yet so I checked with D.O.W. and I am now listed as unsucssesfull in the draw!!!
When the results came out I was listed as succesfull and it even had my window of hunt dates listed and I checked it three times in a week cause I could not believe I drew the tag and I had my daughter next to me one of the times and she is also verifying what we saw. (no proof just our eyes)I have an email into them but I have been doing his long enough to know I am %#%ed and do not have the tag of a lifetime like I was told in the begining.
I guess the bright side of his is I have a new rifle in the safe and have been shooting more and even started running on the treadmill so I will just shoot the crap out of upland game this year and keep shooting my new rifle.
I can go to Utah and buy an out of state tag over the counter but that is not the tag of a lifetime if it is sold over the counter.

Should have screen shot it. Good habit to get into.
The fustrating/infuriating part of it is I own a service buisness and print everything and I mean everything for backup and did not print that. It has saved me enough times with buisness that I know better but this one got by me and I am paying the price for it.I doubt it would change the outcome cause it was obviously a mistake but at least I would have the peace of mind not doubting myself. My daughter is tired of me asking her if she saw the same thing I did and she did and we were high fiving when she saw it cause she was going with me for one of the weeks, she also started training on the treadmill to prepare for it.
I guess if nothing else we will be in good shape to chase the chukar this fall....poor bastards are going to catch all my fustration but then again those little members of the red army can provide plenty of fustration also on their own,LOL.
