Planning on using turrets for holdover and have a leopold rangefinder but it only ranges reliably to about 600 so will upgrade that also.

I ended up putting a VX5HD on it and shot it yesterday with Nosler 180 Accubonds but I forgot all my sandbags so had to shoot it off the plastic rest with no bag for the stock.
In the shoot and clean prosess rounds 7 thru 14 went in an 1 1/2 group with 4 in a 3/4 inch cluster so I am sure that is where the rifle is shooting but I put the rest outside that...my rifle shooting needs alot of work. I only put 20 rounds thru it and it will probably get better with more rounds. I am a bit recoil shy with rifles but this think has less recoil than my Ruger #1 in 270Win and is easy to shoot and eveyhing worked well.
My daughter is inheriting the #1 and was shooting it with me and she now wants the C.A. rifle instead after shooting it.
Once I get myself squared away I will get a better report on accuracy but at the price point of this rifle it looks like just what you would expect.
 
If i might make a suggestion in case you are not satisfied with it completely. Look into the Berger line of ammunition if you can find some. I know they offer a 185 grain Classic Hunter line as well as a Tactical line loaded with the 215 VLD Hybrid. I have taken a lot of elk with the Berger Hybrid and had phenomenal success. I have never bought any of the Berger factory stuff, but thought I would throw that out there as an option to look into. I know there are a ton of threads on here about the 300 Win Mag shooting the Berger 215 Hybrid and what a great combo it makes.

Sounds great. Keep your shooting sessions limited to 20-25 rounds and space them out, it will greatly help you with the recoil shyness. Also be sure and pull it in tight which will help a lot in mitigating the effect of recoil on your shoulder.

Take your time and remember, "There's always time to make a good shot", and don't push it.
 
In addition to getting some bench time and becoming better, more consistent with your rifle and gear.. Don't forget to spend as much or more time in the field scouting. This is a special hunt in NV and I would almost hire a guide to increase your chances. I lived there for 15 years and never drew a tag! Hard enough to get a deer tag!
 
After this hunt I will work up a load for it cause I have about 40lb of different powders and at 3$ a round the weekly practice is going to add up quick and I will try the Berger bullets.

I plan on shooting 20 rounds per session and always bring a 22lr with me to settle my mind while the rifle cools, right now for me I have to concentrate hard to keep out bad habbits and it taxes the mind so 20 will be plenty per session.

I did not get the long range and opted for just he Mesa due to weight and other than my practice the idea is to carry lot and shoot a little and I am not large so weight is a concern. The ballance feels good but I have been shooting a Ruger #1 A so I am used to a very short rifle.After I get a sling and bi pod on it I will weight the package.

I have hunted Nevada my entire life but not this area so I plan on a couple of scouting trips as well as showing up 4 days before the hunt and I also plan on staying the full two weeks if I have to(wife aint happy about that one) but no guide for this one. I have a team of four other hunters that did not get tags that are going to help me so I want to either succeed or fail on our own. I have no issues with guides and have used them before but just want to do this one without one. I also realize I will not get another Elk tag in Nevada so this one is it.....just hope I am still alive to get my Mountain Goat tag that I have been working on for 15 years also but if that one comes I will use a guide for it due to terrain and horses. We have horses but they are not the type to take you up a mountain they just want to fly around three barrels and go home.

I inventoried all my poweder last night and I have about 12 pounds of 4350 and that is what I use in my 270win with great results but I see it is the middle of the scale for the 300wm so it looks a bit fast for it.
Does anyone have experience with it in the 300?
 
I really like Retumbo in magnum cases, especially if you're shooting heavy for caliber bullets. H1000, RL-23 or 26 would be good options as well. I have shot a lot of RL-22 in magnums and gotten great results. There are several good options out there. My pick would be to grab some Retumbo or RL-26 for the 300 Win.
 
You will get a lot of opinions and they (for the most part) will be worth considering. I've shot a lot of 300 we over the years. My suggestion would be bergers 215 and h1000 with a mag primer. Start at a lower charge and work up. If you do a search on this form I believe you will get a lot of information on this combo. Also please understand that I am not trying to take any credit for my suggestion. There have been a lot of guys put a lot of work into coming up with good combinations. Good luck with your hunt.
