Ok great! Well that should work just great for me! I am about to pull the trigger on it, but need to know if a first focal plane will work for hunting (for both closer and longer shots)? I am not finding a second focal plane scope now...

Like I discussed earlier if you set your diopter correctly right out of the gate you will be fine. The small reticle will be like a fine reticle at 4x. Properly focused it is more than adequate. It will have the heavy portion of the posts to pick up and your eye will naturally center. Having just the mils on the crosshair vs a christmas tree will get you way down the road to start. The bonus is that you have a good piece of glass that you can use in a bunch of different ways.

Well, it looks like I most likely will be buying the Viper PST 4-16x50 in MRAD with first focal plane. Going to look at a first vocal plane vs a second focal plane vortex soon to compare and ensure I like it.

Thank you! Yes, I have no problem practicing so many, many hours will be spent with the rifle most definitely. Unfortunately, as of now I have no way to do reloading. Are any of the rounds you listed suitable for "out of the box" use? I completely understand that there is going to be a potential variable if I do not load them myself.

Since I only shoot Reloads (for economic and GOOD accuracy, reasons) I cannot answer this question but, I'm sure some of the Forum members could answer this, for you.
Pick a bullet type and weight then, look at which manufacturer, "builds" a Load around it. Federal does a good job of making accurate Ammunition and uses Nosler and Sierra Bullets. Good luck !

I am a big fan of the Leupold 4.5 x 14 with a ballistic drop compensating turret and side parallax adjustment. You can get best dope for the turret with a measurement of muzzle velocity of your particular load. But using factor data on factory loads will get you very close
