New Here 308 issue

Hi all
Name is Bill and I'm new to this site
I have stumbled here while looking for info on .300 Pegasus brass
But since I'm here let me ask few questions
I have Remington 700 Tactical in 308 with M5 barrel
I have been shooting it in NJ for about 5 years and had my load developed and proven
168 Nesler HP/BT
IMR 4895 41 gr
With this load I could hold 1/2 inch group at 200yd
Recently I have escaped from New Jersey and moved to FL
While at a local range in FL my proven load did not performed as expected I could not get better group then 3-4 inches
Can air temp and density make that much difference
In NJ I had no problem to take 15 rounds in a row and hold 3, 5 round groups with in 1/2 inch
Do I need to go back to the basic and start working up a new load?

Nothing has changed on the rifle all is tight
That was the first thing that I checked
Have to take a look and see what I have left in that run of ammo and go to the range again

Most likely you are getting a higher velocity due to the elevated temps. If you know the velocity that worked just reduce the load to that velocity and you should be GTG. Otherwise, reduce the load until you get the same groups you had before. Down here in the South most of us shoot Varget in a .308. Temperature stability is always an issue in the south. Many powders do weird things above 85deg.

a change in velocity will often result in a change in barrel harmonics-- this end up usually being the issue when it comes to accuracy problems--as OD said, best to check your velocity and try to adjust back to what it was before when accuracy was good--or start over with load development

What load would you recommend with 168 gr bullet

My .308 shoots in the 0's with book max, a 168 Sierra Matchking and a Federal 210M in prepped Federal gold medal cases. You will just have to work up, every rifle is different.

I've lived in Arkansas all my life, when dew point gets around 70deg or more it is miserable! Neither you or he will ever get used to that. I never have. Went to Alaska in June a couple of years ago to escape it. It was great, until I returned during a heat wave. Never did recover the rest of the Summer and had to stay inside most of the time. Sugarless Powerade and Gatorade are your friends and should be a constant companion during the Summer outside. Water can kill you.

Dug out the rest of my 308 loads and will try this Saturday
Plan on taking better notes this time

i would try to work up a better load and go a little less than average on the powder cause the heat an humidity and your elevation effect everything and since your in Florida that will make a huge difference in your bullet
