I have a box of sierra 175gr .277 tipped game king. The only published data I can find for 6.8 western is on hodgdon load data.
, but it only has data for 170gr bullet.
So how can I safely use that 170gr data to reload 175gr?

the 175 TGK has a lot longer bearing surface than the berger. start 1-1.5 gr under min and do a quick pressure test. just one shot at each powder charge and check velocity

I started low with 48 gr IMR 4350. Went up slowly until I reached 2,760 fps. Factory browning ammo in TGK clocked in at 2,710 fps with a COAL of 2.90"
I measured my chamber and it is 2.977". Due to magazine length you can only go to 2.965" with 56gr of IMR 4350 will average 2,789 fps and shooting clovers at 100yds. I hope this helps all you out there needing info for 175 gr bullets.

I'm in the same boat as you. Can find data up to 170 gr but not 175. I will use yours. Thanks.
Factory Browning 175 gr loads do 2835 in my Browning Max 26" barrel with 1/2" 5 shot groups. Same bullet with H4831sc shoots 1/2" groups for 5 shots also. Velocity is 2850 fps. Most accurate hunting I have ever owned.

Could I ask you starting load with 4831? I've got the 24" barrel on my Browning. I would like to give this powder at try and just picked up a pound.

Chuck are you willing to share your charge load? I have the 26" barrel as well. I was planning on starting with the 56gr of h4831sc and moving up from there. Would love to know how much you're using to get that velocity

I would take the 170gr data, divide into 10 increments. Then load touching the lands, 1 shot per charge weight shooting into 1 bullseye per shot. Where does bolt lift become an issue. Stop and pull the rest when you feel bolt lift become and issue. Then back off an increment from where you felt bolt lift.

which rounds grouped in the same area? Which had smallest shot to shot velocity change? That should get you close enough for a seating test.

Here is the load data I used for 175's and H4831SC. I found 58gr to work for me. I don't have velocities on hand.
