Need Advice on Barrel Twist.

Hiya Guys,

I am considering putting a new barrel on my .243 rifle and am not sure what twist barrel to go for.

I never shoot the 50-70grainers, I want to be able to shoot the 87grain V-Max but I would like to be able to shoot the 100+VLD's as well.

The 87 grain V-Max will stabilise with 1 in 10 but for the 100+ grain VLD's I will need 1 in 8.

My query is, will the 1 in 8 over stabilise the 87 grain V-Max and adversely affect accuracy ???

If you are shooting benchrest, you want it to be perfect. But, a benchrest shooter wouldn't expect to be able to shoot every bullet.

Overstabilizing is better than understabilizing. ...particularly when you consider that you want the tighter twist to shoot VLDs for long range.
