Whatever caliber it is, it looks like a bullet loaded into a 7.62x51 LC blank cartridge by simple cutting of the case part that acts as the bullet and restricts expanding pressure of powder while holding it in... and I'd never fire it because the case would be unsafe. ??

I personally prefer my own wildcat cartridge. The 45-50 cal.
Edit: the projectile was given to me by my neighbor, souvenir he brought back from Vietnam.

For kicks, I ran a .375 Ruger case in a .300 RUM, sizing die. Then I seated a 240 Matchking in it. It was just interesting so I posted it.

Playing with brass in my reloading room is how I made my first wild cat. I took a 300wm and necked it down to a .257. It's a sweet shooting round. Fast and flat.
