N570 Powder

I believe that the only two powders that Vihtavuori advertises as being temperature sensitive are N565 and N568.

N560 and N570 are not advertised as being temp. stable.

Reloader 26 is most definitely not temp stable either. There are many
threads right here on LRH and around the internet documenting really crazy deviations above 90 degrees with RL 26.

N570 is extremely slow burning w a very comparable burn rate to RL 33.
Very good powder for large bore Magnum rifles, or larger weight bullets, but in moderate weather. For extreme temps N568 will be more reliable. It is a bit closer to N570 than N565.

I found it interesting that N570 works very well in both my 338 LM and 6.5 PRC. I used RL33 in my LM for 5 years and considered it my go to, but was looking for perhaps better tempurature stability so I looked at N570 on Quickload and found that it was very close to RL33, even a little more velocity, so I tried it. I am very impressed with N570 after running it all last year in my 6.5 with great success. This year I'm going to work more on my 338 LM.
I think it falls in between rl33-26.
I run 33 in my lapua but thought ok lighter bullet shorter barrel .26 Amy be king. But 33 outshined it. I still really wanna try n570 but all I can find is 26. I'm stocked pretty deep in it.

I also have a model 700 Remington 264 WM that I need to build a load for.

Shooting buddy has a newly re-barreled .264Win on a Winchester M70 w/Brux 1:8 twist @ 26". He's using AA MagPro getting just over 2900 w/156gn Berger EOL @ 3.34" COAL which I believe is ~.025" off the lands. I post this only because MagPro has been reasonably "getable" even through this current shortage.

Same guy is considering a 300PRC and I plugged some #'s into QuickLoad. Looks like MagPro would net ~2800fps from a 26" bbl using Berger 245gn EOL.

MagPro and Ramshot LRT have been the clear availability winners regarding slow-burning powders the last 2yrs or so for whatever that's worth.

I used N570 in my 338LM and then 338 Edge. Excellent velocity and accuracy, was my go-to powder for a while. Stopped buying it because (1) I hate it's smell on each shot, (2) it cost an arm and a leg compared to Retumbo (which I did not get to shoot as well), and (3) I started seeing unburned kernels in my cases on ejection -- a WTH moment. It is the one powder that I would get impressive fireballs out of the muzzle at night, from a 28" tube.
Now have a bunch of RL33, 7977, Magpro and H1000, but haven't gotten around to them yet since I've been playing in the 6.5 Swede Imp / 260 Rem / 7-08 / 308 Win / 300 Savage sandboxes for going on two years.

So I found a local provider that is supposed to be getting Vihtavouri powder in stock. And at a decent price I think. About $50/pound. From what I am seeing, the N570 is being in a lot of the Magnums. (7mm Rem, 300 WM , 300 PRC) If that is a wrong assumption someone please correct me. I have two questions here. How is the temperature stability? And how is it comparing to H100 and Retumbo? I already have these 2 powders but want to explore all options for the PRC build. Thanks for the help everyone.
It is not temp sensitive I use it and love it. I use it in all my magnums in temps 100 to -20 farenheight

Magpro is highly sensitive though which is why I decided against it.

Howdy snox, where in the world are you finding R26 these days? I'm just the opposite, my LGS had a lot of VV powder and I can't find ANY Reloader to save my life…
