My thoughts for an Ultimate Long Range Carry Rig!

Most of the time, balance of the rifle is achieved right where the dbm is located. It can be cumbersome when trying to carry through brush and whatever. Just something to think about. I have a lever action Win 88 in 308 that has a flush dbm, so in this instance that doesn't apply.

An adl or bdl work fine though, and I wouldn't worry about the balance too much, but it plays a factor for me personally. If it wasn't a pack gun, dbm, but if you want to pack it, I say bdl.

Well it won't be packed, but may be carried a lot. I don't think the Surgeon DBM will be tapped hard enough to drop the mag. I'm affraid something like the Badger M5 would be easy to drop the mag with the low hanging release.

I hate to build a custom rifle w/o a DBM...
