My Cousin's new Long Range Rig

Yes the 270 and 300 WSM use the same go and no go gauges. A lot of the Savage guys have said good things about those xcaliber barrels.

Thank you very much! That's all I needed to hear! We are all really looking forward to this rifle!

Just wanted to update the status on my cousin's .270 WSM build. We threaded the barrel today and as I write this, it is being contoured, chambered, and crowned. We are leaving the barrel as long as possible so a little over 27" and doing a #7 contour on it. The stock needs to have the barrel channel opened up but other than that, the stock is awesome and now just needs a little bedding. He ordered a Talley 20 MOA base for it and has a set of Weaver Tactical rings we will be using. The factory trigger has a lot to be desired but we tinkered with it and it isn't to bad, but he is planning on getting a Timney for it. Below is a picture of the barrel while cutting the threads in the lathe.
