I felt the same way when I got the use of a bolt action 50bmg. I was expecting trees to explode and the ground to liquify but tree barely moved and the dust was cleared off but other than that it's like you said between the muzzle break and the reoiilpad it was ammmm
Anyone have any experience with the .450 ackley magnum?
This is a relatively new to me cartridge with ever so slightly more capacity than the 458 Lott. Here’s a handy picture, .458 win mag, 458 Lott, 450 ackley. Can fire the Lott and the win mag in the ackley chamber. Anyways, reason I ask is I’m in the process of buying a rifle chambered in...www.longrangehunting.com

True story....
At the range...two painters show up with Weatherby in a shiny Haliburton case...
First guy shoots...scope cuts a ring around his eye...blood flowing profusely.
Second guy up...same thing...bloody scope ring
They threw the rifle in the case, threw the case in the bed of their pickup truck. Drove away fast kickin' up dust.
If I hadn't been laughing so hard, I probably could have bought that rifle cheap...

Where did you hit it? I would have thought a critter more or less the Australian version of a big coyote would have some pretty decent entry or exit wounds from a 458 haha. Or is the Lott with fmj round noses a pelt hunter's gun?

Also in the second picture with the dingo…holy smokes that's some pretty lumber on that rifle. Can't see it quite as well in the first one's light. Gorgeous. I like the shape of the comb on that one too, that gradual drop…I forget what that style of stock is called but I like it

If I remember correctly, I think the entry was in the front of shoulder/neck region. Due to their small frame a little critter won't provide enough resistance to initiate expansion on a bullet designed for heavy game. Of course if spine or major bone structure is hit, then externally visible damage can be significant. Even with a clean pass through enough energy is transferred for an instant kill.Where did you hit it? I have to get it out of hiding & out of the box, & then I'll share. The first loads Hornady made chronographed @ 2400 with 300 gr, absolutely zero pressure signs , I mistakenly told Hornady that. They detuned their 405 to around 2200-2250
