I have several good friends on your side of the fence and it's a shame what has happened up there. Was up there probably 25 years ago and can still remember the pro succession comercials on TV in the western provinces. Your PAL is similar to my communist states FOID card so I have to deal with much the same manure.

What does FOID stand for?
Firearm Owner Identification. IL residents. You aint buying, trading, possessing ANY gun or ammunition in this state without it for ANY reason.
Issued by/through the state police with fee and background checks. Used to get notified/reminder when getting close to renewal time but not anymore. Now they no longer put exp dates on card and no notification when yours expires so no completely up to you to guess when. Another way they're trying to make good people felons.
