How does a 338 NMI compare to a 338 RUM velocity-wise (CFE-9 for the RUM) and is there a reason one would be better than the other for a short barrel?
I have a 28 as well, I live it. You will be fineI can't wait for Dallas to get my 338 norma ai complete. I went with a 28 inch barrel. Kinda wishing I would have went shorter like this set up
I run my TBAC Ultra, it's awesome.Tag. I absolutely LOVE my supressed 20" 30 nosler built on a bat. The only thing I would ever consider changing is going to a .338, with a new can. I came from braked 24" .338 nm to my current build......
How much of a difference from a 338NI to a 338LMAI?
The 338LM came out in "89" and the 338NM in 2008. They are almost identical built from a 416 case and both have pros and cons.
Thanks. You shoot more 338s than anyone we know.
From what I've experienced they will be very close and they will burn same or close to same amounts of h1000 while using same bullet weightsHow does a 338 NMI compare to a 338 RUM velocity-wise (CFE-9 for the RUM) and is there a reason one would be better than the other for a short barrel?
For me it was less felt recoil using the can, but not bad at all with the brake. continuous shooting it get's rough, but that's a whole day of blasting steel. It is way more manageable with the Ultra, I use it off a tripod all the timeYou sir, just built my dream rifle. How's the recoil in that setup with the ultra can? What would you compare it to a non-braked caliber?
Do you shoot the 338NM with 300gr otms and have the data to backup your statement? The Norma was built around the 300 gr bullet and shines over the Lapua past 1500 yards.
Send me your data on the Lapua and let's compare. From the pictures posted above of the Lapua case versus Norma that same article, by ballistics I believe, went into great detail between the two. Yes I always use the 300 gr bullets, I haven't used anything. I don't own a Lapua so you will have to share your real world data so we can take a look.Do you shoot the 338NM with 300gr otms and have the data to backup your statement?
We are always looking for a better cartridge and if the 3338NM is better that's great.
However I did look at the ballistics with PROS and CONS between the two.
Would like to see the real world data from you for your statement.
What "SHINES"???
We have custom JGS Reamers for 338LMAI and also shoot the 338LM.
If there is the 338NM with better results - what is the percentage of better ballistics than the 338LM and justified to make the change?
Thanks

Honestly ... this and my edge were very pleasant !! I mean my 14 year old shot the edge and loved it!!You sir, just built my dream rifle. How's the recoil in that setup with the ultra can? What would you compare it to a non-braked caliber?
You are the person "waveslayer" that stated "The Norma was built around the 300 gr bullet and shines over the Lapua past 1500 yards.Send me your data on the Lapua and let's compare. have you compared the 338NMAI versus the 338LMAI? what barrel lengths and twist rates are you spinning up your barrels in? Once I get all the data we can do a nice detailed review. I will send in all my data, loads, brass, barrels, etc. It would be a fun comparison
