Had a seating stem jam sideways in a Hornady die, during assembly.
It wasn't kind to the first case.
Frazzle Frackin !

Looks like the new 6.5 EarsplittenLoudenBoomerThought I would share my mistake of the week. In case anyone else had dueling rock chucker's set up and using the lock rings on their dies. I apparently forgot that when I set the seating die up for OAL and locked the ring down that it was in the press on the right. Yesterday when I treaded it into the press on the left and seated the first bullet I got a new wiz bang cartridge that headspaces off the front disk! Reminds me of Aircraft photo's breaking the speed of sound. The newer (not as good) RC II is about 1.5 turns off on die adjustment from the older style. One more thing to mark down and document.
Me neither. And I can't say that happened to me once either!I wish I could say that I've never seen a cartridge emerge from a die looking like that but I can't...
I always seem to learn faster once I make the mistake. That being said it sometimes takes me a couple times of making the mistake before that light bulb goes off. This situation only cost me one piece of brass, but reinforced the need to double check every step in the process.
I had a bone head moment last night. I try to be clear headed anytime I am reloading.

I did the exact same. I called it the .280 Foreskin.Freshly annealed brass with a donut in the neck. Smashed my 280AI just like that seating a bullet.
Identical!!! I hired a rabbi. Works great now.I did the exact same. I called it the .280 Foreskin.
