Didn't get drawn for my special E/S elk permit but got drawn for special elk "B" tag (004-80).
Got my B tag draw!!
For someone that doesn't live in MT what is the difference between the the ELK tags you are speaking of.
Thanks for the info
In the area I get my A-9 (b tag) is 314 - 80 and they are usually on sale over the counter late in the season. I am just about sure you have to have been drawn for a current year elk tag or be a Montana resident. This is a great way to get meat in the freezer and hunt all season for that big nasty sausage only shoe string tough bull elk, or another last minute last day cow elk.For someone that doesn't live in MT what is the difference between the the ELK tags you are speaking of.
Thanks for the info
After getting lucky the first year and scoring a 6X6 in the Bob Marshall, we have only seen 1 legal elk during the season the past two years in that area. Of course prior to the price increase, drawing 3 years straight as a nonresident was a fortunate feat.
This year we got a lead on a different area and got lucky again...archery tag for 632, the Breaks near Fort Peck. Only about 6 weeks until the hunt, we're pretty excited.
My wife and son drew B tags and all 3 of us have our general elk tags too. Hmmm 5 elk tags, better look into a bigger freezer.. Not really, we will only take 2 or 3 elk as that is all we can eat up by next season..
