Most accurate .30 cal, 200 gr. + HUNTING bullet??

This is simply speculation and is not true at all. I suggest you research further before making uneducated statements like this. You are wrong.

Oh, then go tell this Bull elk that was shot by my wife at 765 yards he is not dead and the Berger Tactical bullet he was shot with does not expand at all.

I'd say those bergers work just fine, I think I got that dollar the other day at the gas station it had blood in the same spot. Lol. I like how you used that dollar to fold over all them 100s you got in that wad. Haha.:)

If I recall correctly the same VLD bullets sold in the orange Berger box were originally advertised for use strictly as a target bullet. Real field results changed the perception of target only and now these same bullets are being sold in the orange box. Other than the packaging the bullets are the same now as back then.

No bullet is perfect in every situation. However, there are several documented big game kills at various ranges to include some ranges consider well beyond comfort levels by many all the while using the Hybrid Berger bullet.

The 230 and 215 Hybrid bullets still seem to be in high demand. If a person is not comfortable using these bullets in their rifles please leave them on the shelf for the rest of us that do! It would be greatly appreciated.:D

This link is still floating around every now and then. Check out some of those OTM and Hybrid kills. In the end it rests on each of us with what bullet we use.

This is not a Berger push, they just have a reputation for making heavy accurate bullets. I primarily shoot Berger for my reasons.

HUNTING BULLETS V.S. MATCH BULLETS

After shooting a spring turkey in PA years ago and having 69 gr. Sierra match the bullet pass through its breast and seeing the tom get away I no longer use match bullets for hunting.

(The next fall during archery season a hunter stopped me and told me he had shot "my" tom! His taxidermist told him about the thru-and-thru breast shot he saw. The hunter remembered me bitching back at the nearby ski lodge about hitting the turkey but having it run away. What a coinky-dink! Two guys shot the same turkey in two different seasons.)

Hollow point match bullets are approved under the Geneva Convention for use as sniper rounds because they do NOT open up and so I doubt very much if any Berger Tactical bullets would do for hunting. Their hollow point does not extend back to the lead core.

Man, I wish I had read this before I bought some 215 Hybrids, but it is too late!

Maybe it is just me, but I would rather base my choice on an effective bullet for Big Game on actual field experience on multiple large animals than how one bullet did on a short range turkey fired out of a non-large game cartridge. No, I think I will go ahead and try those 215 grain bullets out of my 300WM Sendero with confidence that it also would dispatch a short range Turkey though it may be best to plan my Thanksgiving meal around a different Turkey.

Actual field results should be heeded I believe!

I don't know about you, but when I go after turkey, I use nothing less then a .416 Rigby with Monosolids. And it usually takes a follow up shot to put that big Tom down.

Nice hole in that bull , I love the bergers but I have a nice savage model 111 LRH that will not shoot them no matter how I build the load but I't likes 178-g A-max. Has anyone devloped a load yet for 300 win mag with the 208-g A-max yet. If so your imput would be helpful . THX Dana gun)

72-74.5 H1000 in Norma cases and 210m primers under the 208 Amax has been awesome. 210 ALR too.

this reply is to BROZ heavier bullets out perform lighter bullets normally past the 600 to 800 yard line and are less affected by the windage and normally have a higher bc number plus they have more knock down power close or long range, and yes that's also what seperates the 300 win mag from the 7-mm.............gun)

I have a savage 300 win-mag model 111 LRH, I worked up a load using neck-turned nosler brass fedral-215 primer rutombo powder and hornadays 208-g A-max @2949 FPS. Major tack driver!!!!!!!!! 200 yards 5 shot group I had 4 holes more than touching each other and 1 out not more than 3-16th of an inch. And very nice groups at 1000 to 1300 yards. Also I have notice less wind drift with that A-max at long range. I have a Arizona Kaibab 12-a Hunt in 2 weeks hopefully all this home work on load development will pay off. All I can say is my barrel loves that 208 A-max @ 2949 fps.

The Sierra target bullets have the toughest thickest jackets. That 69 grain Sierra was designed to shoot from a 220 swift or 22-250 velocity and not come apart with a fast twist. I shoot 1000 yard competition and have shot Bergers for years. The old Bergers in the yellow box were called target bullet. It did not have hunting any where on the box. Then Berger sold the company. The other people started making bullets and the target shooters started blowing up bullets. When you have a bullet blow up you lose your agg and your year is done. After a year or so Berger got the company back and made a target bullet with about a .001 thicker jacket. Now they put the regular bullet in an orange box and the new one in a yellow box. The heavier jacket came about because of the target shooters having bullets not making it to the target. Mostly they were 6.5 caliber and at that time there was a few shooting really fast 6.5 cartridges. It seemed most of these bullets were blown up with cut rifled barrels and rough throats from firecracking. THe 210 Berger is a way more accurate bullet then an Accubond or Barnes. Especially when you get out there. If Accubonds and Barnes were good the 1000 yard guys would be using them. They tried everything. A few have done ok with an A-Max but Berger pretty much dominates the game. That right there shows what bullets are accurate. Most of the 1000 yard BR guys use a 210 VLD In their 30 Cals. A few use the 215. Matt

I agree, all my other rifles I own all have Bergers in them but if you do a lot of load development you will find that some rifles like only certain bullets. One of my hunting buds bought the same savage I have his shoots the 210 VLD great but I can get no better than a inch group at 100 yards with mine. I believe every rifle barrel has it,s own characteristics. I weighed 6 different manufactures bullets and averaged out their weight and Berger will always win. The worst that I found was sierra match king.So I guess it really comes down to what your barrel likes not what you like. Consider your self lucky if you can find a heavy bullet with a good BC that your barrel likes.gun)

I have seen a lot of barrels shoot the Bergers in the rifling but have seen a couple that wanted 100 to 120 jump. Usually if you play with the depth they will shoot. Matt
