More powder lately, but the prices! šŸ˜®

The day Cali goes red will be one for the books. Although with the way it's been run I could almost see it happen. Dan Bongino would say it just isn't bad enough yet. But I'm not sure how that can be from what I've seen and heard.
Believe it or not, the majority of the state is red. In the election, it's only along the coast that is blue, and once you get up above Santa Rosa, it's pretty conservative. Like much, I believe the media controls what the majority end up thinking. I have found hunters to be some of the most law-abiding people I have met. Yet we get treated like criminals.

Can any state top California's 11% tax on guns and ammo? Bueller, Bueller, anyone?

Ok, tomorrow is going to be a big test. I'm driving up to my lake property and will stop at Sportsman's Warehouse and pickup some magnum primers I ordered. Low and behold, digging in the garage to take tools to the lake, I found a box of 5000 CCI Large Military Primers, #34s. And it was a good reminder to see how much powder I have. I have plenty of primers, even if I didn't have the magnums I bought. But powder made me realize...I have 6-1/2 lbs of Varget, 6 lbs. of IMR 8028 XBR, 5 lbs. left in an 8 lb. of H335. The Varget is always good in the 308, and IMR 8028 will work in 6.5 Creedmoor, as will use Varget or 8028 as will 308. I don't have a lot of H1000, only 1 lb. But I have 4 lbs of 4831SC, one of the slower powders for 6.5 PRC, but still it's usable. I also have a couple lbs of H4350 for 6.5 Creedmoor, and a lot of Accurate 1880 and CFE BLK for both 300 blackout and 8.6 blackout.

At this point I think I'm in the same camp with @WYO300RUM, having some of it torched at my funeral. I have enough for 30 years possibly, and I'm currently 66. šŸ¤” I don't think I"m very good at math, but would rather be safe than sorry with reloading supplies. My biggest problem is not getting anymore new calibers that I don't have powder for. With that said, I'll see if I can contain myself and not buy anymore powder. They have a lot of great powder on the shelf, it just keep going higher and higher...and I think that makes me buy more.

What I need to do is get myself out and hunt more...July seems like a long time away...and I won't have my new rifle until April, most likely.

Would be nice if Trump removes tax away from Social Security. I agree, Brandon deliberately put it to our retirement budget. Getting back to powder, would like to see some IMR 4831. I won't even mention price. Maybe we should seek USAID and say our rifles are fluid and non binary. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« Let's contact Pocahontas and Schumer, I meant Harris and Tampon Tim. After all they claim to be gun owners! šŸ¤®
Soc. Sec. isn't taxed here thank God. It's not taxed in Ca. either. Amazing. Figured Newscum would find a way to.

I did that during the Clinton years when we had the primer shortage and couldn't find primers anywhere. I still have some of it but I didn't buy enough H4895 or IMR4350! I bought a bunch of different 8 pound kegs including the H4895 and IMR4350 -- but should have bought 2 kegs of each of those because they were the types of powder I used the most. However I went a step further and also bought a Corbin Press and bullet dies for .224, .257 and .338 for making jacketed rifle bullets -- which were the most prominent calibers I was shooting at the time. Now I don't even own a .338 and wish I'd bought .277 dies instead because that's my main big game caliber now! Getting into making jacketed bullets can be an expensive process but it was worth it for me because no shortage has stopped me from range time since!
So -- bite the bullet and buy what you think you'll need but go further and buy more than you think you'll need! But don't forget the brass, primers and bullets!
I got caught in the Clinton primer shortage also ! After that I said never again . I stocked up.on everything. I still have CCI and Win. primers from the 70's. 89 cent stickers on them. I have more than enough of everything I need for all calibers for way more than my life time. I had buddy's asking me if I had any primers to sell ? Hey do you have a H1000 ? I started to tick me off that they weren't prepared for shortages. I learned in the 80's. I'd ask , what do you do , buy one pound at a time , one try of primers at a time ? Then when you run out and have buy another or search all over ? I finally started saying NO ! Your an adult. Figure it out. I'm getting ticked off just typing this . šŸ¤¬

To some extent, I can appreciate how you feel. I certainly would not short yourself of supplies. I think I would eventually get to the point where I would say, I have none that I can spare. For me, it would depend on who it is and what the situation is.

I do hope that we can get back to where our shelves are well stocked that we could just run to the store as we need something. Maybe we are spoiled at always having everything we need or want available to us.

Just thought that I would share that Brownell's is now running a 0$ hazmat fee on primers and powder. Seems like everyone is getting in on the act. Still can't find those Federal Large rifle primers. I might of bought them online with them dropping the hazmat fee. I did load 3 pounds of powder into my shopping cart and then paused at the $182.00 price tag. I'm going to give myself to the end of the day to decide if I really want to pull the trigger on it. Just trying to avoid impulse buying.
