Ditto...hope you like yours as well as I like mine...
Just checked my order. Total cost of my McGowen to the door and ready for the receiver, including shipping and handling, was $467. I think, like everything else, they've gone up a little since then.I believe I paid around $330-ish for my last Hart Barrel. Right in-line with the other premium barrel Makers.
McGowen is about $100-$110 less

Yes, that included custom chambering (6 TCU) which is $140. Also included crowning, contouring, threading, stainless, and finish. Shipping and handling came to about $50.Was that chambered or a blank? I just got the invoice for my barrel from McGowen
lastnight and it totaled $235.00.
Your experience with them and their product is unfortunate. My experience with them has been somewhat different than yours. The only "issue" being that after firing my cases were showing a tiny indentation which I wrongly attributed to a defect in the chamber. Their lead smith looked at the photo and suggested the problem might be due to the ejection cycle. I discovered, after blocking the case from snapping out, that he was correct. They were both timely and professional, and I have no complaints. I only hope when I'm finished with the breakin procedure that mine shoots as well as other people say theirs do. I'll let you know. The picture that I posted was a replacement barrel from McGowan. The first barrel that I ordered, was never crowned and was just as bad. I have to admit, this was the first time I ever attempted to build a rifle, and it was quite a learning experience , and I was quite naïve. I had to send the first barrel back for throat issues and after I got the barrel back from them and was able to finally get the muzzle brake off is when I noticed it was never crowned. I had paid to have it crowned. McGowan's whole argument the whole time was the timeframe that I had the barrel. Due to Covid, my range was closed for six months and then I had an elk hunt the following month, so I didn't get started or finished this project for a while. There is no excuse for their poor workmanship and arrogant attitude. I posted this hoping no else makes the same mistake. Pictures are from the first barrel.
I appreciate you posting the picture. I hope it shoots good for you. It is surprising to see that. I've never had a McGowan but have had a mixed bag of after market barrels at just about every tier level from bartlein to green mountain. Here's a picture of the last McGowen barrel I got View attachment 315521
I'm sorry about the experience you had. Thank you for sharing this. I have a green mountain barrel. It doesn't look as good as one of the top tier barrels but it doesn't look anywhere that bad.The picture that I posted was a replacement barrel from McGowan.
