he will build a "what every you want cartridge" and possibly a longer barrel if you want? certain brass and cartridges have been tough to find when he started, so...................................it was just a start as new cartridges, barrel lengths and recoil systems is a possibility! i think the saum is a great case even though it's a little slower than the wsm. i have a 7saum in an ar10, but will test when i get some factory ammo or just load some myself? also have a 7-08 for testing and do have 4 boxes of federal 150gr power-shok to do so with. It's a pretty cool project, but... I think I would have gone with the .300 RSAUM and stayed with bullets in the 175gr class and underweight keep the cartridge in the .308 Win length. Just my 0.2 Cheers
I still plan on building that 7 SAUM, I've got some brass. I don't think it will be that hard to develop since most of the problems have already been proofed out.he will build a "what every you want cartridge" and possibly a longer barrel if you want? certain brass and cartridges have been tough to find when he started, so...................................it was just a start as new cartridges, barrel lengths and recoil systems is a possibility! i think the saum is a great case even though it's a little slower than the wsm. i have a 7saum in an ar10, but will test when i get some factory ammo or just load some myself? also have a 7-08 for testing and do have 4 boxes of federal 150gr power-shok to do so with.
so far the 1's he experimented with have been ss, but he did state he could do a cf. both were 22" +2" gas as far as i know? x-cal doesn't do any +3 or more or even +1". mcgowen does +1, +2 & +3", but doesn't have as many chambered offerings w/o extra cost. either 24 or 26" is the longest x-cal will do in an ar10 w/ cf barrels, but go as long as 28" with ss. mcgowen stops at 26" w/ both types of barrels (maybe 24" w/ cf?). i have barrels from both places, but no cf barrels from either. hopefully next year i can travel to x-cal and talk about other gas lengths with them?Masczek, is your 300 WSM barrel a X-Caliber Carbon Fiber?
Thanks
This is a CF barrel right?…It's been awhile, but I finally got around to taking some pictures of the carbon fiber rifle. It's 10lbs 11oz (if I remember correctly) as it sits in the pictures. The side charging upper really makes this platform a lot better IMO. I've had 100% reliable ejection with this upper, very pleased with how it's turned out so far. I also tried shooting it suppressed, the ammo I had that day was already loaded a bit hot. It started showing a little bit of pressure signs with my handloads, so I switched to some 180gr factory ammo I had and it seemed to work better. I've got several loads worked up now, I'll be taking it out this week to see which one it likes the best.
Yes, 187 is a cf barrelThis is a CF barrel right?…
