Looking for some advice?

I really just use my 260 Rem for hunting. I don't have a bull barrel on it. It's a Remington Sendero contour but 27". I don't know it would hold up 10 rounds less than 10 minutes. I try not to shoot more than 5 so the barrel don't get to hot. I mite have to try that though just to see what happens.

Snipers showed up at Williamsport one time talking big. They shot big. Real big. And left and never came back. There is a time limit to shoot your group but most guys get 10 down range in 30 seconds or less. I do it in 20. There's a guy Bob Shields that can run 10 in about 12 seconds. He consistently shoots 5 inches. Basically with sighter and your ten shots you are going to put 15 to 20 rounds down range in 5 minutes. Oh I was military and have much respect for our snipers but at our range they got there bottom handed to them. Plus the 308 is not a very good 1000 yard round. Shep

Thanks for your service first off. Yeah 308s are not very good. The only reason the military used them as sniper rifles back in the day was because they were available. Not cause they were the best.

This man shoots with/for lilja barrels. I can't remember his name but he was supper nice. I don't know if he shoots for them still this is a old pic. He let my girlfriend and I both shoot his gun at 1000yards. Can't remember the caliber but I thought it was weird his scope only had a fine cross hair. There were no hash marks for wind or elevation.

Yeah the puney little 6.5 grendel kicks it but. I love the grendel and Beowulf on an AR. The grendel is a very accurate little round. I build them on match barrel blanks and don't put gas hole on them. We use them in the military class. They shoot 1/4 moa at 100yards pretty easy.

This is not unusual since lots of Benchrest shooters use fine cross hair reticles with no additional "marks"since they mostly "dial".

Yeah that's what he was telling me also. I all was dial in my elevation but never my windage. I just use my hashmarks. I don't see anything wrong with either way. Just a preference. I just didn't realize bench shooters didn't use hashmarks. He was saying its cause the groups were so small and a busy optic clutters the target. Somethin like that anyway. Thanks for sharing the info.

You sound like a solid guy. It would be fun to shoot with you. I'm sure I would learn a lot.

Thank you sir. I live in Fort Worth. I don't know if you know where that's at. Look up TacPro I like to go there a lot. I let my membership go out but I'm ready to renew it again. I just like to shoot. It keeps me calm. Until I miss anyway. LoL then it's beer 30. I don't know how much I know but I'm more than happy to share what I do.

So I took a trip to the range today and ran the 260 out to 1250 yards. First target is my 200 yard group. Then I shot at 1000 to validate my dope and wind, then for fun I sent one shot at 1250 yards. This is all with factory prime ammo - I overstated my initial round count - I am officially at 82 rounds through this gun (after the 12 rounds I shot today). Those stinking Milspec Gen 2's are awesome - I've got the triggertech set right at 1.5lbs. I am still on the fence, and am thinking about dumping them both for a 6.5 prc, but maybe I should just keep them. I went an held a CA ELR in the prc yesterday at sportsmans warehouse and fell in love with it. I'll have to sleep on it I guess...

Good shooting. I've looked at the 6.5 PRC and I'm done looking now. All it does is duplicate the 260 Rem. Hornady makes that round because of loss of sale. The 6.5 Creedmoor sales are starting to drop because people are finding out how much better the 260 is. So Hornady came out with the 6.5 PRC and all it does is duplicate the 260 Rem. Look at factory ammo Hornady makes for the 260. They stop at 129 grain for a reason. People say the 260 is only 50 FPS faster than the Creedmoor. But people like me who actually reload for both I get 250 FPS more from my 260 Rem with the same bullet. I'm getting 3030 FPS with 140 grain Berger's. My Creedmoor is only getting 2780. Now my 260 has a 27" barrel and the Creedmoor has a 26" barrel. So if the Creedmoor had a 27" barrel I could probably squeeze another 25ish FPS out of it. I have heard of the prime ammo I never shot it though. It must be good to hit a 1250 yard target with factory ammo. That's awesome. Before I started reloading for my 260 I was shooting HSM 130 grain Berger's. If I remember right I only took it out to 800 yards. I did shoot some Cor Bon 123gr Scenar they where crazy fast but I never got a chance to stretch its legs. I got a heart shot on a doe under 100 yards and I didn't thank I even hit it cause she didn't even flinch. My friend and I found her about 4 hours later LoL. The grass was 3 foot tall and it was getting dark. If you thank 4 hours was crazy to track a deer then your really gonna laugh when I tell you we found her about 40 yards from the truck. Man we laughed so hard at each out. I was like some great tracker you are bud. LoL. We did cape her out and it was a perfect heart shot. All I can say is yes you can hunt with Scenar bullets. To keep thangs clear it's on a ranch. He has MLD permits. We have so many doe and buck we have to take each year. I still don't understand all of it I'm just along for the ride.
