I called him a few months back He seemed real busy and didn't have much time to talk. You might try Dave Nicholson at Alamo Precision Rifles in Hurst Texas.
im sure they do good work. Hes not very far away either. Might just jump on the ole Harley and ride up there tomorrowWTO's work for me was nothing short of outstanding. I know it was a bit more but it was worth it.
22 Creedmoor hands down. You'll never be in want for another varmint cartridge.Looking for a good gunsmith to re-barrel a Model 70 from 6.5cm to a smaller Varmint cartridge (same bolt face size). Lets here what cartridge and who (gunsmith) you like in West Texas. Dont really want to mail it unless I have to.
I used to buy stuff from B&B years ago. Still have an old dirty hat from them. I will call themJeff Barton does really good work. He lives in a small community South of Abilene. Trained under Doyle Gray a long time Smith in Abilene. B&B pawn in Abilene can put you in touch with him.
Doyle was a first class smith and he did a lot of work for me. He built a sweet double rifle on a Merkel box lock action I got to handle. If you ask at B&B Pawn they can steer you in the right direction. If Kevin Myer is still around, he does first class work as well.Jeff Barton does really good work. Doyle is still working some at his shop at home. Haven't seen him in a couple of years. Yeah. Kinda rich isn't it?Wow $1,250! Are you talking about just spinning on a new barrel or additional work like truing the action, fluting, etc. etc.? Assuming you're just wanting a common steel barrel cut and chambered I don't see how you can get to $1k for that.
