What is a good/great long range hunting rifle (800-1000yrds) up to $1400? I'm liking the 7mag, 6.5x284, 6.5prc calibers . any reviews as well

Since your going out to a 1,000 I would go 7 mag and 180 for the extra energy to 1,000 especially if elk is on the menu.
May even consider a 30 cal.

I here alot of good about the Rem 5R rifles my choice would be 300WM. A Tikka 300 WSM comes to mind if it's got a 10 twist would be fine with 210-215.
Sounds like your looking for factory options.

I'm glad to hear he is having luck with the RPR. That is what I have been looking at.

The RPR will shoot a sub MOA with good loads.

Remington 700 Long Range, mine is in 7mm RM.

We were shooting steel.

If it was consistent sub half moa I would have said so. It's a $1200 rifle. Not a $5000 ai or custom

What are you planning on hunting at long range? that's really the question you need to relate before a competent answer can be given.
