Long Range Reticle Thread

While not nearly experienced as others here, I like the tmoa in Leupold (2fp) the MOART (2FP) and the MOAR (Nightforce FFP). Have both ffp and 2fp scopes for different purposes. I like the finer reticles for load development and tiny targets, but find myself reaching more and more for the FFP models for hunting.

This is the Vortex PST GEN II 5-25x50mm FFP reticle EBR-2C-MOA with sub-tensions that sits on my Rem 700 re-build.

To my eyes, when looking through the scope in good lighting, the windage hold-over dots are not distracting (I thought they would be a bit of a nuisance at first).

My eye-focus jumps to the center of the crosshairs pretty much immediately. Additionally, in good lighting, the red color of the main crosshair section generally has minimal negative effect, but in low light it illuminates very well. My old Leupold Mk IV 10x had a nice reticle, but was a bit thick, not illuminated, and certainly not FFP.

I prefer MOA reticles in my scopes.
Alas, the top tier glass is still out of reach for me.
But I've found the MOA reticles in the Sightron, Burris and Crimson Trace scopes work well.

I really like Meoptas Z Plus RD.
It's not busy but has all the info I need and a 1 MOA red dot for low light conditions.

I tried one in the Optica6. Center dot was WAY to big for me. Ended up sending the scope back as it wouldn't track. Glass was good though.

In a S&B, I love the H2CMR. I have 2 of them.

I also have a couple Gen 2XR reticles which are good too. Nice and fine, but "only" have .5MIL subtensions.

The Gen 3XR takes care of that with .2MIL subtensions and a floating center dot.

I am with @fmajor
Though I don't prefer Vortex, I find myself leaning towards the Christmas tree style reticles. They seem to look crowded at first glance but they really arent to me. I generally dial, but like the options for holdovers and I practice them.
I run all FFP scopes, so what i find helpful with this style is closer range stuff. I know this is a LR hunting site but sometimes we find ourselves moving slowly through thick stuff. The Christmas tree style helps my eyes find the center much faster if I have to make a closer snap shot with a FFP scope.

At 7:30 point of this video Koshkin shows the ZCO MPCT1 reticle at low power, but it is the 5-27 model, not the 4-20

The MOAR(T) is my favorite. have a standard MOAR in ATACR's 5-22x56

I'm no expert but I much prefer a relatively simple reticle. For me, the Nightforce MOAR reticle is as perfect as it gets. It provides plenty of windage and elevation information if needed and that floating plus in the middle draws my eye to it just about as well as a red dot.
