Long Range Hunting-Video (Shawn Carlock, Defensive Edge)

If that were the case I'd send them one just so you guys could get them in a regular amount of time. I don't seem to have trouble getting them to the UK, Africa, NZ etc. in a week or week and a half????

Just got my package today, patience was all that was required........Thanks!!:D

(border guards probably have it out on their coffee breaks trying to polish up their guns and skills).

You Got in Trouble! :) Now you have to appologize to the border gard! :D I surely would not want to be in your shoes.

I have received a few questions from members about things on the video:

1. On the box test you are in fact aiming at the center of the target and dialing to hit the 4 corners of the box.

2. Vertical despersion of the bullet from wind and from thermals are to different things. The thermal effect comes from cool air warming and rising or warm air cooling and dropping, effecting the bullets elevation. Vertical from wind is caused by a horizonal wind component blowing over a terrain feature and you could potentially have both at the same time.

3. Yes, rifles chambered in calibers other than 338 Edge will work. I just happen to like that one.;)

Not pressuring, just curious. There are many unexplained reasons for delays across our "free-trade" border but if I know it's been sent I'll know where it is (border guards probably have it out on their coffee breaks trying to polish up their guns and skills). Thanks for the reply!! Looking forward to the videogun):D

Mine took some time to get up here also. But it did arrive, and I watched it for the first time today. Really enjoyed it, learned lots, and I know I'll pick up more the next time I watch it. Great work on the video Shawn. In front of the camera also, maybe you should get in on some action films next. You could pick up the Sniper series at #4 taking over from Tom Beringer.:D Thanks again Shawn, great dvd!

Thanks. I'd have to pass on the Miramax deal though;). Besides I just don't think I could look throught that stupid digital scope reticule with a straight face:D.

I got mine in record time and I have to say, this thing is worth every penny I paid! The production values are way above what I expected. No constant rushing of wind in the background, no fadeout of voices due to background noise, no image washout because the camera is pointed into the sun. You can laugh, but a whole bunch of videos put together by hunting and shooting experts have all of those problems and more.

The information is well plotted out, the presentation is articulate and concise, and there is no "filler" footage in the entire thing. All in all, if this is Shawn's first effort, you can bet that he has raised the bar for everyone and his next video might just put anything produced by Miramax to shame!

Something I liked alot was how Shawn would go over a chunk of content then put in a few field/hunting shots to break things up.

There is a lot of info for the new shooter especially. I want to break it up and demonstrate certain points with field footage. Glad you liked it. I have started on the 2008 Greatest Hits video already.

got it at 10 this moring had it watch by 12
very fast shiping to me im on the other side of the world

very good dvd
why did nt you make this 8 years ago when i started shooting would of saved me a lot

Its a good video. Lots of informative talk about wind. What really amazes me is the vapor trail left by the bullet through the camera. I have never noticed that when I am shooting long range. You can see the bullet arc and hit. Pretty amazing.

DSKD,

I wish I had made one 8 years ago as well. The availability of affordable digital technology has made videos like this with in the reach of more people. I am working on some stuff for Nightforce scopes this spring and am excited to dive completly in to making "Greatest Hits" volume 1 this summer/fall.

Hi Shawn,

still waiting for mine, tried to call you a few times, answer machine only. Any advise, specific time or # to call, etc.? Sorry to hijack the topic...

Regards: Razor18

Shawn,

Good job on the video, I enjoyed watching it.
I appreciate all the work it takes to put a video like that together.
Keep 'em coming.
