This video is a bit long, but worth the watch IMO. I recently needed a new daily driver and ended up buying a used 22 Tacoma Off Road with 37K miles. No way I was going to buy new. Here's why:

Here's a pic of my new ride!

the loss of value our dollars are suffering is a huge factor in this as well, we keep running the printers and can't figure out why our dollars buy less and less.....

seems like all car commercials are these days is what radio services they have and whether or not they have a heated steering wheel. no real mechanical information, just how many cup holders and cameras.

used to at least discuss mechanical features. I guess if you're neutering the expensive parts and putting in smaller motors all you really have left to advertise is the churched up parts.

Like anything else it's a combination of things. Expensive high tech features, expensive hi tech engines to meet federal gas mileage standards and inflation. The big jump the last 3 years is largely inflation caused by printing 4 trillion dollars during covid.

Really not a fan of many of the features anyways. I don't want any kind of collision warning or lane steering never mind self driving. Can keep your push start crap. Don't need a system to reverse how you back up a trailer, blind spot lights or crawl mode. All useless to me.
When I've had rentals with all that crap, that car feels UNSAFE to drive. I then have to figure out how to turn it off…immediately.
