Long Range 22LR

I shoot my suppressed 10/22 out to 400 yards. 73 MOA up from my 75 yard zero with match ammo. The consistency of the ammo becomes increasingly important as you move back and many types that shoot great at 50 yards have so much velocity variation that vertical stringing takes many/most off target.

The norma extreme is showing from 35-43 fps extreme spreads in 5-15 shot sessions. The other regular ammo i shot were 70-120 es

At 200 yards, it's very easy to see that sort of (~10% of 1,050) variation and you could plot velocities by position on target.
I'm getting ready to try with my dad's 513T. It's from the Fifty's, free floated the barrel and going out in the next few weeks. Will post the results. I'm partial to the beautiful wood stock and gorgeous bluing.

Depending on how far you will shoot, you may need to shim the rear of your scope mount in order to get enough adjustment out of your scope. I used refrigerator magnets cut into strips to shim mine - easy to work with and held up fine.

Good shooting. I custom built a 22 a couple of years ago to train with but a new house and projects have kept me from getting the range time I was hoping for when I built it. I read somewhere that 300 yards with 22LR is equivalent to 1700 yards with a large bore center fire. Not sure if that's true but it is definitely a challenge. Thanks for sharing.

If a person wanted to get a little more serious long range gun, what would you buy? Ruger, bergara, tika...?

I heard there may be a guy at this shoot with a custom that can shoot .5 moa at 300 yards. I'm not ready to go that far into this rabbit hole lol

I've heard that Voodoo is the best available at this time. Anschutz would be another good option. Both are a bit spendy but I believe Anschutz is less than Voodoo.
