Long barreled 7 prc ?

My 7PRC should be completed soon but I'm not expecting anything that my 7WSM isn't already doing. I'm currently shooting 160gr class bullets at 3,000 fps but I've shot 180gr bullets at close to that speed too.

The 7PRC is just more marketing hype IMO but, I'm interested in wringing one out for myself anyway.
Yeah your 7 wsm will be slightly faster with a capacity around 83 grains.
I emailed ADG about the prc and it's only 79 grains H20, peterson is 80.

I'm surprised that the 7WSM never became more popular. It works well in a magnum short action which seemed to be all the rage at the time. Getting quality brass is the only issue with the 7WSM. Overall, I've had fairly good luck with fully prepped Winchester brass but I'd prefer some Lapua, ADG, Alpha or other quality brass.

That's pretty much it, at least for me. Even if the 7WSM is better than the 7SAUM.... I'd rather use ADG brass than Win brass.

I'll ultimately adopt the 7 PRC in some form because everyone will make brass for it. One good thing the Hornady Marketing Machine does is get a lot of rifles into service and with that comes a lot of vendor support.

7 PRC = 7 Rem mag in capacity

So, in my 28" 7 Rem mag, 162-168 at 3200 fps is real world, Retumbo with 215's and groups in the 3's or less is the norm with Remington brass!.

200 fps is a big deal, and I do not see the need for a can for one shot. The 28" on a PRC is going to be a winner.

I like the #5 contour that seems to guarantee tiny bug hole groups in many calibers and configurations, Bean Field Rifles shooting out of fixed box stands.

I am looking forward to what reloaders come up with using some of the slower Vihtavuori powders, Staball HD, magnum, even the non existent retumbo and r33. And with bullet weights from 150 to the 195s, case fill, seating depth and anything else.
I don't plan on even testing any bullets lighter than160 grains. I really wish some of my favorite solid copper bullet makers would make a 180-190 grain .284 super high BC bullet (Bad Lands…..if you see this…😬)

The barrel I just ordered has a finish length of 31" with a 1:7 twist. We shall see how the testing goes. I've got a few powders to test out.
