The data!

338 Lapua Improved. 32" barrel. 104 grains Retumbo. 300 grain Berger bullet. Cases have been fired several times. The velocity spread was around 10 fps.

Unfortunately, accuracy wasn't that great. Mirage was horrible, it's been well into the 90's. At 425 yards, I shot several groups, I would have two almost touching and others a bit away. I'll attribute this to mirage, the bull was dancing around quite a lot.

How hot of a load is that in your gun? I'm torn between a 338 Lapua Imp and 338 Norma Imp to match with the new Bergers. I'd like to also use Retumbo and the 3066 is just what I'm looking for.

Thanks for sharing the results. I hope to have my 338 lapua finished in the near future and want to give the Bergers a try.

At 104 grains you can just see the ejector mark on the brass. Bolt lift is heavy, but every single load I try gives heavy bolt lift, I think it's from the cerakote on the bolt. The primer however, looks perfect!

Part of my velocity may be the 5C rifling from my Broughton barrel, I hear it gives a little speed boost.

My bolt is the same way, also sprayed with cerakote. Is there anyway you could send me your drop info? I'd like to see how accurate the free ballistics program I've been using is.

Is the Norma Imp able to push a 300g bullet to even 3K? Smaller case, isn't it? ...and not built like a 338 Lap, if I recall.

I don't think the Norma could do that, or even that close.

Here's my info for 3050 fps-

500 yards 7.1 moa drop, 2539 fps, 4294 ft-lbs

1000 yards 20 moa drop, 2076 fps, 2871 ft-lbs

1500 yards 37.4 moa 1663 fps, 1842 ft-lbs

2000 yards 61.5 moa drop 1292 fps, 1111 ft-lbs

If you need further, don't ask me :)

That's at sea level too, it will be much better at higher altitudes where most people are.

Tyler, have you documented these drops? If so are you using the .891 G1 BC?

Jeff

I've only got to 425 unfortunately, 1k plus coming soon. However, the 425 yard drops were absolutely dead on.

I am using a .455 g7 bc.

Broz,

My box of 50 came this afternoon.

Though I'm shooting a lowly RUM it will be a good comparison with what Tyler is doing. I have things rigged so I can do velocity, accuracy and expansion tests simultaneously, though one shot at a time.

It'll be fun to compare with the SMKs.

We'll let Tyler lead the charge on the long distance info. My RUM has a sporter 26" bbl and is somewhat limited by the scope (5 mils) for real long distance stuff.

Tyler, it sure is good to see you doing so well!

Roy, I have already sent over 50 down range. I had to drop my velocity in both LoadBase and Exbal to get the come ups to match at 1000 with G7 .455 BC. Really looking forward to seeing what other find.
