I always like show n tell or AKA the bragging board.
Have the same rifle (inherited). How did you get the scope mounted? I'd love to put one on but don't want to permanently alter the rifle.Let's try some old school. My father's 1903A3 Springfield pictured here after a thorough cleaning. He picked it up as a barreled action for $18.50 after WWII. I'll bet it has had 1500 rounds through it, but still pus three 180 grain Remington Corel-Lokts within an inch at 100. I've not been able to develop a load that it shoots better so why I stopped trying. The stories it could tell.

On my 721, 270, the head of the brass was hitting the edge of the extractor, near the ejector, and causing the cartridge to stop short of going into battery. My temporary fix is to taper the head of the brass quite a bit to push the extractor "spring leg" back into its slot in the bolt head. There is a tiny taper on the brass case head, I just made the taper much more pronounced. Did 20 rounds, all load and extract, so I will shoot them, and, reload them specifically for this 721.Yeah extractor issues. My 721 .06 has same problem. Ugh. Don't know if I'll get it worked on or just keep it as is.
The perfect set up and bullet around here too. High desert. 150 gr partition. Going 2700 to 2800.Ruger M-77 tang safety. .270 winchester 2.5 x 10 Vortex Viper. I glass bedded the stock and free floated the barrel but otherwise same gun I purchased in 1981. Shoots sub MOA and loves Reloader 26 and 150 grain Nosler Partitions.
Is that the Huskemaw scope Sir ? If so , how does it compare to the ATAC-R ? Thanks , FloydNice rifles Lab rat!
With the exception of a couple of scope upgrades, this is my "go-to" for deer for the last decade with a few dozen whitetails and mule deer under its belt from 100 to +1000 yards.
