Len's Southwest Photo hiking adventure March 2022 Part 2 - Canyonlands National Park

Len…can't find right thread. I had mentioned the Camino de Santiago and Natural Bridges. Bridges is more rimrock than Arches. You are on top of the formations, rather than below. Well worth exploring.

The Camino is 500 miles long, reaching from the French side of the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela, then on to the Atlantic. Not the Pacific Coast Trail by any means, but rather a pilgrimage. Walk 12-15 miles a day, numerous hostels and cantinas along the way. A good way to relax and, for me, feel at peace. I do 150 miles, or so, at a time. 3 weeks, 4 days to get there and back and 17 days walking. Would do more but miss the wife. EBeen there 2 times now, with some overlap. Will go again next year after a knee replacement. At 77 not that many years left. Honestly, the most fulfilling event I can do.

My first picture from my April 16 trip.

Sounds fantastic!

I am backpacking GCNP's rim2rim2rim next month but tell me about 170 miles on the Camino de Santiago and also Natural Bridges.
Not something you do in one trip. Friend of mine did it a number of years ago and talked about the number of boots he wore out.

Some do the Camino in one trip. I have completed two sections of 150 miles each, although 50 of the miles was a repetition of the first to accommodate those I was walking with. Three weeks each time, including air travel of 2 days each way. Most relaxing trips I have ever taken. Two sections to go! Buen Camino.

LaSal is on my list for next trip.
This area is my backyard growing up. If you're able, head down to Blanding Monticello area and experience it's beauty. There is so much to see in this area and it's less known. You could do Dark canyon, elk ridge, bears ears, Anasazi ruins and really so much more. If you ever decide to head down that way pm me and I will help you decide where to go and what to do.

I am driving through Monte cello right now I'm on my way back from Grand Canyon and then on to Moab

There is a forest fire going on just a few miles outside of Monte chello Voice typing errors
