Seems to me the 243 will do everything the creedmore will do out to 400, regardless of what the Hornady hype machine says.

Not disagreeing that the 243 is a good deer cartridge. But dad isn't as steady or as patient as he used to be and I'm not sure it would be the best match for him, the Creed only has 2 more ft/lbs of recoil with 400 more ft/lbs energy then the 243. I figure it would be a little more forgiving if he missed his mark a bit…… but then again maybe I'm not giving him enough credit. I appreciate your input.

I didn't know that they made a reduced recoil round for the 30/06. I'll look into it thanks.

Or handload him some 125 grain ballistic tips or Sierra 125's.

Unfortunately I'm not set up to hand load at this time.
