Fyi - If you are loading for the original bolt action they were meant to use a 220 gr. round nose bullet. The left front of the magazine is designed to cam the bullet nose up and into the chamber. Most of the factory ammunition I've come across are spire points. While you can use spire point bullets the exposed lead tip of that style will suffer as it feeds into the chamber. Also, the markings on the original ladder rear sight are calibrated for the 220 gr. RN military load.Does anyone know where I could find some factory ammo for the Krag 30-40 that I just picked up? Seems like everywhere I look, no one has it available. I did purchase some dies and brass, but would like to fire a few factory rounds though it first. Thanks
I still have my Dad's Krag he hunted with for decades.
