I started out with 45 grain loads around 4,000 fps, and I wish I had a lot more of them. The rifle came with only a handful. The primers were just starting to flatten out, but the brass showed nothing. Not sure how hard the primers were.
They shot VERY well when I shot at paper. One tiny hole, less than .1" group size. I took a deer with one of the last rounds, emptying her cranial cavity and removing everything below the eye sockets. The only thing left resembled half a coconut. It looked like she tried to swallow a grenade. I miss those rounds.
I don't like to abuse brass, and I don't need to go crazy fast. I want the rifle to tell me what it likes. It really liked those 45 grainers. As I said earlier, I will start low and work my way up.
