If you want to pour 30yo scotch into mountain dew....go for it! It's your scotch and your taste buds. If you want to take shots of Pappy's.... have at it!
It was 114° here a few days ago and I came home and put 2 fingers of balvenie 21 in a coffee cup full of crushed ice. Yes I'm not 100% house broke and I have my heathen moments but I enjoyed every drop.

LOL! Yep, the book I have also addressed to enhance (wakes up the flavor and other attributes) the experience with a drop or two of water - it is my oldest son's preference.I used to drink my whiskey, single malt, and such neat. And then imo I found alittle water released more flavor.

The scotch in mtn dew makes sense to me because if it ruins the taste mtn dew is cheap and you can replace it!The best way to drink whiskey is.....

WELL. it was a Monday. and a very full glass....LOVE OF GOD! What is with the ice? You can have your bourbon privileges revoked for that!
I cannot handle even a drop of water in my single malt aged scotch. However, I do agree, when you talk to the distillers, fine scotch makers in Scotland, they all say, a drop of water is required to open up the flalvors, wake up the spirits. I just can't do itLOL! We are going to overlook the infraction this one time!WELL. it was a Monday. and a very full glass....
Me too! When I was stationed in England, we took a few tours to distilleries in Scotland and enjoyed them as-is. In Scotland, it is the water of life, so I drink it as-is.
