It was just a matter of time CO

Just saw colorado ranchers filed for reimbursement for cattle death/damages before the year end deadline-- claims total almost $600000, and the co Reimbursement fund only had $350000

Also saw that the wolf reintroduction has cost coloradans over 5.1 mil $ so far.

I wish the people that voted for this could be held financially responsible

Perhaps the ranchers should try and file a lawsuit against those people and their assets. Crazier things have happened in courts. Spill coffeee on yourself. Sue the cigarette company because you decided to smoke.

The northwoods of WI is my homeland. The wolves were there before they brought the elk in near Clam Lake. They've always been there, same as cougars. It interesting that there have been stories of wolf packs following deer herds down the river bottoms all the way to Illinois. They follow food supplies and have a big advantage in late winter over weak whitetails in deep snow. I know some friends that have lost bear dogs during training season. I also know the locals up north do pretty well at keeping the pack numbers down. The likely hood of them getting desperate enough to go after humans for food with the size of the deer herd in WI is highly unlikely but taking stock animals, pets, working dogs, etc. is not just about money. People gotta protect their assets on their own.
L2land I agree with you, Bill from Illinois is wrong a little.

For years I bow hunted between Glidden, WI and Clam lake, WI the wolves were always there and with that the state even knew the largest wolf pack in the state roamed the Shanagolden community just outside of Glidden, WI. I always asked why the Rocky Mountain Elk foundation and others were dumping so much money into introducing Elk in the heaviest populated area of wolves?

So the last 10 years Iv'e been doing the WI rifle deer hunt with a bunch of folks that been setting up a boot camp - ruffing it and having a great time around the camp fire - and yes hunting in Prey, WI - Jackson County. I go there because the cell reception sucks so work doesn't chase me to camp and honestly with the expectation of probably not getting a deer there. Because Jackson County has the second largest pack of wolves in the state if you look at the records. So about 4 or 5 years ago the state decided to start a second herd of Elk and yes in Jackson County?? Wow!

We have way to many of these dogs as we call them, some years the camp see's more wolves in daylight then deer and the lack of deer numbers has caused a lot of hunters to go elsewhere or some to hang it up.

So after all that the only thing I came to grasp with the 2 elk herds that they are trying to establish being started in the 2 largest packs of wolves is? "Herd health" I don't know but maybe the mindset was the wolves would take out the weak and sick and the Elk herd would have a better chance?

Bill from Illinois the wolves were here and heavily populated in both area's of Wisconsin before the Elk were let go. If you ever get up in the North Central WI area look me up for a visit
