Isn't the USA a great place to buy guns?

Was a kid when the awb passed, and a young adult when it went away. Remember my 1022 had a lousy 25 round mag that wore out and not being able to get another. Also remember a lot more emphasis on pistol round power, with 10 round limits capacity wasn't as big a factor. Have watched a lot of states loose rights but technically have more federal rights now than my childhood.

Only have Canada to compare it to, and am definitely grateful to have more freedoms of guns than them. But could say that about almost every aspect of canadian society, their goose seems pretty well cooked all round.

Suppressor limitations still seem weird to me, odd that they would be regulated more than a rifle. Seems like at most a 4473 should be the extent of it. Sbr rules also a bit silly in the age of braced pistols.

@Jon Bischof
I like your optimism!
And you are correct - the USA is a great place to enjoy firearm ownership & the plethora of options available is enviable. We are blessed. And we can stay blessed if people pay attention and ONLY vote for the pro-gun candidates in each election.

Get out there and enjoy the freedom. We are only ever one generation away from losing it. Educate your kids & grandchildren what the constitution guarantees them if they'll protect it. They'll get plenty of brainwashing at school telling them to be good little Marxists & encouraged to trade off their freedom for the illusion of safety & security...and they'll get neither.

You can vote yourself into Marxism-Socialism-Communism but you can never vote your way back out of it. And THAT'S why there is a second amendment to the bill of rights. Let's hope and pray we can educate future generations to vote wisely so the tree of liberty doesn't have to be refreshed.

("The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson, 1787)

I'm not really optimistic but we do have it better than Australia and Canada.

The National Firearms Act of 1934 never should have been enacted. It passed because of hyped up fears over gangsters.

What we really need but will probably never get is an honest Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of the NFA with a focused definition of "shall not be infringed ".

As far as I know, the SC has never given a decision with a full definition of what "shall not be infringed " means and covers.

An honest historically based decision would strike down the NFA of 1934, making many of our current gun control laws null and void.
