Is this a black bear or grizzly

It's a, "Color Phase",.. Blackie
We call them,.. Cinnamon Bears !
My son shot, a huge, 15 year old, 450 Pound, Cinnamon Bear, here, in western Idaho.
We see, a chit Ton of, Blackies when, Elk hunting along, the Snake River, North of, Cambridge.
A 165 Partition from his .30-06, made "short work' of him at, 115 yards !
His Skull was over, 19" long and almost as big as, a Grizz skull, when laid side by side at, the Taxidermy shop.
We do have, Grizzly's over on the East Side of, Idaho but,. I don't Hunt over there,.. since selling, my .338 Win Mag,.. LOL !

One of those Cinnamon would be just fine.
I don't have any bears but I do have space for a nice rug,

Idaho Lefty-I'm for thinking your son shot a good one for sure. 19" on the total skull I can see but 19" long I think is a typo:). Otherwise your sons bruin is a world record my friend...

I have zero idea how you do it but I'd love to see a pic of that bad boy, 450 lbs is a brute of a bear in the Rockies.

@ dogz,..
Just called my son, as my memory is "sometimes", a bit,.. "Faulty",.. SORRY,.. You ARE, right !
It's the Width,.. Plus, the Length, to come up with, a Boone and Crockett Score of, 20" that, is needed, to be, a B&C, "Book Head".
His Bear was, 19 7/8 th's inches, measured by, the Taxidermist,.. just an 1/8 " short of, the B & C club ( not that, it mattered to him as we're not, Trophy Hunters). Idaho F & G took, a Tooth and they said he was, 15 years old ( He had, a scarred Face and Broken Claw ! )
That Bears Head, looked like, a freakin', Basket Ball and he sure was, a "nice one" ! ( Biggest one that, I have ever seen and I've seen about 25 or, so, now ) Sorry, I don't have, a clue about,.. posting Pictures !
PS ; 15 year old Bears, Taste like,...
Meat was, donated to,.. a Dog Kennel !

Yah any time one gets into the 19" plus range on a black bear one's got a corker. If I recall right I've been in on the taking of 6 BB's in the 19" to 20 and 4/16 range in Montana. All darn good bruins!

And same as you, we never entered any of them, just doesn't matter to us.

I'd love to just once break 21 in Montana but not sure that'll ever happen. I keep looking and passing them up, just can't get enough watching the buggers:)

Your son for darn sure has a bruin trophy of a lifetime! Way cool beans!

When in bear country, you should wear a bell and keep a can of bear spray handy. The best way to tell what kind of bear it is, is by the poop. Black bear scat has grass, berries and small animal fur in it. Grizzly scat has grass berries, animal fur, bells and pieces of bear spray can in it.
I call them dinner bells.

What kind of bears are these? 🤔😁
