I think the 7PRC will be hugely popular with the masses if good factory ammo is available.
For the handloaders,as long as good brass is available, I think it will be very popular too.
But I don't see the 7PRC as the nail in the coffin of the 7SAUM by any means. Or the .280AI.
My 26" .280AI ran a 175 Elite at 2986fps.
My 24" 7SS runs a 184 Hyb @ 2938fps in a SA.

I don't have a 7SAUM YET....one day... or a 7SS... Just curious since all of a sudden I'm seeing several for sale. I have a couple 7rem's, one factory and one custom with a 1:8". I see that as the advantage of the PRC is you'll have a factory rifle with factory ammo available with the 7mm heavies and faster twist barrels for folks that do not want to deal with customs, and just want to buy a box of ammo and go shoot. There will always be love for the saum from the custom guys and handloaders.

Just left a pretty good gun shop and there were many 300PRC rifles to buy, one 300WM and not one '06 or '08.
Meanwhile, over in the ammo section...Boundless amounts of .308, nice choices of '06, a couple of 300WM and one choice for the PRC. (Some 230 match)
I reload and shoot factory once in awhile. I think anyone thinking of a rifle purchase that doesn't reload should go .308 all day long and twice on Gunday!

They have tracked well out to 1154yds.
Optimized case design, in collaboration with factory rifles with properly twisted barrels set up for optimized case design cartridges, become the "easy" button for a lot of off the shelf hunters (which is the majority of the hunting population). Hornady will build on their success of the 6.5 PRC and will have a winner.

How in the heck are you getting g 70.5 grains behind a 195? I get pressure signs at 68-68.5 behind a 180. You must hate your brass

I was loading g 70.2 in Federal brass with HBN coated 180's, but that's about it. With good, high capacity brass, and maybe a slightly loose bore, I could maybe see that much with the 190 LRHT. Every gun is different. I can't attest to what your gun does, only mine. The brass in the pics is going on it's fourth firing with 69gr plus of RL26 pretty much on every load, still in awesome shape up and down. And to have the ability to push a .751 BC bullet in a .284 factory gun at that speed and accuracy, is cool to me. I dont care if I only get 5 or so loads out of the brass before the primer pockets go. At the end of the day it's a hunting rig, that gets shot maybe 50 times a year, and brass is cheap. I cant imagine brass would last that long at that kind of charges but hey to each their own. I use ADG brass so thats probably part of it.

I see the for right piece has an ejector smear on it. I'd back that off .5-1grain if it were me but if your comfortable with it who am I to judge. I used to run the 180 eld-m at 3056 but id get the occasional ejector squp so I backed off 1 grain and found a even more consistent load at 3019

There are thousands and thousands of 6.5 PRC shooters that have never heard of the 6.5 Saum, just like there will be thousands of 7 PRC shooters that have never heard of the 7 saum or any of the wildcats. Just how it works.
I like the 6.5 saum but when my current barrel is done I have a 6.5 prc barrel already sitting in the safe to replace it. At this point it's the easy button. If/when Lapua and ADG pick up the 7PRC it's gonna be another nail in the 7 saum/wsm/whatever coffin.
It's a shame I would love a 7 wsm but I'm not going down that road with the brass situation for it. 7saum is a great cartridge but brass has been hard to find and when it does pop up it's sells out as fast as a 250 count box of Berger 215's! And you pretty much have one manufacture for it so better hope nothing happens to them or they stop making it (doubtful either happens, just saying)
