325wsm in a lightweight sporter

Sounds like a LOT of recoil to me!
woukd you agree Its a tad more gun than a 30-06 in a lighter rifle?

I know ammo is not super common. But I'd suspect it be a rifle you could go anywhere/hunt anything with.

Can load the Nosler PT
If I load a 180@2800 that's equal to an 06......

Worse BC but more knockdown and bigger hole.

I've always been intimidated by the cartridge and never got to try one.

"Absofrickennot" too much gun! Unless of course the gun is too heavy to hunt with comfortably with. The cartridge is jusssst right! Though, I'd use a heavier bullet with a much better BC.

If you're a hand loader, and you should be, collect your components, build a good load, and…..go forth and slay animals.

FWIW…..my wife uses a .338 WM on everything from deer/antelope to moose. Heck…..she even managed to kill a bear with it! 😉 memtb

What are you loading for deer?

I see Speer components for affordability,
Nosler PT for Premiuim

del2les

I chose the 180 for the "light" recoil option of that versus the 200

I though if I was dropping down below that weight might as well be shooting a 30 cal.

And I've always associated "light and fast" = high shock trauma damage to meat

Case capacity references: (may not be exact) estimated

284 win: 57.5 gr. water
30-06: 60.0 " "
325wsm: 70.0 " "

I'd say its quite a hot 06'!!!
Recoils got to be brutal.

My 348 win shoots a 220@2100fps (known) and 200@2500fps(guestimate)
I'd say that gun is heavier and less horsepower than the 325 we are discussing.
That rifle stomps me pretty hard is why I'm hesitant for more gun in a lighter package
