Introducing the Absolute Hammer

TAC is a great powder it should work great with the 162AH might be alright with the 151 could be a little slow though
I ordered some 162,s. I have a 308 supergrade that I trued and put a lilja 10 twist 4 weight on. It makes a hole so I am excited to try the absolutes in it. I am thinking 8208 or Tac. I doctored the trigger to 2 pounds. Should be sweet.

Was getting ready to do a pressure test in a 6.5 cm/109 grain absolute hammers in Lapua cases. It already shoots the 110 hammers great with 41.9 grains of Varget @ 3115 fps. Unfortunately, Ioads became compressed at 42.5 grains and now have to move up to a faster powder with the Absolutes due to case capacity. Suggestions? Thinking of working up some with imr 4064 or imr 8208 xbr.

I read somewhere on a 6mm Crusader being used for hunting at ranges somewhere around 700yds. I yet to find just what that case looks like. Pushing a 115gr at about 3500fps if I remember correctly. I do feel that a 6/Nosler is probable to much. 6/06 AI looks about where I am headed for. The COAL is the other problem. I don't want a single shot rifle.

I posted this back on page 60 something. Don't know how you missed it 😆.
Creed case capacities to neck shoulder junction with Lapua brass.

R16 45gr
Varget 45.8gr
H4895 45.1gr
AR-Comp 43.6gr
IMR 8208xbr 47gr

I bet with rl26 you could hit 3600. Very interested in your results. After hunting season I'll be trying some in my Sherman. H1000 would be good too
these powders will be to slow in 6.5 with the absolute hammers reloder 23 will be a case stuffed full with the 6.5 sherman 3500 should not be a problem I got there with the 6.5-280 AI

I finally got out today to do a powder charge test with the 123 grain hammer absolutes.... This is a factory 6.5 PRC browning x bolt HCLR with a 26" barrel and limited COAL to a factory magazine length, feeds flawless without any issues. I had 35 total rounds on this barrel before testing. Here are my results, I stopped as I will work on grouping next... maybe with 57.5 or 58.0 grains? Aloha

I also shot some 134 gr shock hammers today as this was a starting load I made before learning about the absolutes. Very happy with the results and it will be a back up load if I can't get the absolutes to shoot. But I just can't ignore it's about 600 FPS slower!!

Looks like your findings were right in line with mine, I have a 24" barrel and was getting around 3440 at 58.5gr H100V.

6.5 Grendel, 16" barrel AR-15: I'm getting similar results to @JMW67 , 99 HH seems to do better in short barrel 6.5 Grendel. I got to 2750 fps with the 109 AH and 28.0gr of H4198, but pressure signs and no accuracy. With the 99 HH, I got up to 2930 fps with 28.6 of H4198, much better accuracy, and no pressure signs. Gonna stick with the 99 HH for this gun. Trying the 140 AH on 280AI next.

My loads were about 1.5 inches higher (less bullet drop) than predicted @ 300. I didn't fool with adjusting BC for that close to get the predicted drop to match actual. I usually go to at least 400 before fiddling with the ballistic inputs.
You will be close with predicted bc on your first shot. Shoot further and make your corrections. It shouldnt take much

I took the 123's in my 65SS out to 600 yesterday. With a density altitude of 7750 feet, the Labradar showed 3335 over 8 shots with SD of 7 and ES of 20. Kestrel vertical with .229 BC was off the target low. 2.5 mils was slightly higher than aim point and 2.4 mils was lower. G7 BC to match drop was .192. Obviously, I need to shoot it farther to verify but I won't be able to get to longer range before my elk hunt.

According to the Kestrel, at 500 yards the remaining energy is 1521. Velocity drops below 1800 after 825 (energy is 906 at that point). 500 is about as far as I want to shoot at an elk anyway so I'm good as long as the bullet works.

For comparison, the 124 HH at 3322 required a G7 BC of .245 at 600 to match actual drops.
